Re: Happy Birthday, 55
Right now, I am just focusing on trying to better myself and become a more well-rounded person.
Right before the breakup and the layoff, I began a strict diet and workout regiment (that I have yet to even come close to breaking) and things are going well thus far. My weight was a little bit out of control, by my standards anyway. I am 6'1" and weighed around 245 lbs. on New Year's Eve. I haven't gotten on the scale again yet (and won't until February 1st) but I can already feel the results. I have already had to go to the next notch on my belt and this one is getting a but tight as well. I also just feel more light on my feet in general.
I have only been eating around 1800 calories a day and not drinking anything at all besides water (other than one cup of soy milk with my cereal every morning) and been avoiding sugars and carbs as much as possible. I've been lifting weights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays while doing cardio on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. I rest on Mondays.
I'm also playing in large poker tournaments again, something I used to do as much as possible for those on here that have known me for a long time. I play in a $200 buy-in No-Limit Holdem tournament every Monday at noon at Horseshoe Cleveland. I will also (starting later today) be playing in the monthly $500 buy-in No Limit Holdem tournament which takes place on the last Sunday of every month. Now that I am laid off and single, I figure now is as good a time as any to make a run at turning pro and these tournaments are a fantastic way to get that going.
Well, enough about my life/problems for now. I'll post an update on 2/1 with what the scale says. I also post in the Off-Topic thread in between breaks on tournament days.Comment

Re: Happy Birthday, 55
I couldn't wait any longer. I had to get on the scale today.
I am happy to report that I have lost 17 pounds since New Year's Day. Almost halfway to my target weight already. I am going to celebrate with a couple of slices of pizza tomorrow and then right back to the regular diet on Friday. I've still got a lot of work to do!Comment
