posting from a PlayStation so I can't link it but

from Oregon: a woman went into a store (I'm assuming a convenience store), left her car running with her 4 year old still inside. naturally, a man outside the store stole her car while she was inside. the guy looked in the back seat and saw the kid, turned the car around, went back to the store and found the woman, apparently gave her a good blessing out for leaving the kid in the car AND... wait for it...

...told her he was going to call the police on her . after he made her get the kid out of the car, he then took off again, still with her car

Reminds me of the story from a while back about the dudes who stole a car with a kid in it, dropped the kid off at school and then went about their joy ride.

Theres now a new developing problem in the city of Toronto. Tow truck wars.

I thought this was only a thing in GTA (Grand Theft Auto, not Greater Toronto Area, although it does apply here now), and in a Simpsons episode.

Now some tow truck drivers are getting so territorial that they're ganging up and taking out other tow trucks.

There was actually a shooting in Pittsburgh a couple years ago that stemmed from a dispute between 2 tow truck drivers over who was going to tow a car.

The whole towing cottage industry is total BS (just like civil asset forfeitures) so none of these issues should even ever occur, but that's a whole other ball of wax....

Another story which reminds me of a Simpsons episode.

Theres stories about online learning and how at some places, the professor teaching the class isn't even alive anymore. The school is just using their material and old lecture videos to teach classes. Imo that seems lazy,cheap and wrong. They basically own all the rights to anything that person has produced while being employed, so if they ever died or quit, the school retains use of all their stuff free of cost. At very least their family could've gotten paid the money the professor would've been paid had they still been alive.

And students aren't even told that their class is simply just a prerecorded video of someone who died. Surely that's something you can sue for? Paying hundreds if not thousands of dollars for something you weren't even disclosed full details of.

Reminds me of the Simpsons episode where they were using dead celebs to advertise stuff. Obviously celebs do have diff deals in real life where their estate gets sent royalties or whatever it is, but it's funny how this real life story tied into another Simpsons moment.

I would argue this is almost no different to what universities normally do with regard to their "teaching" responsibilities. Most universities treat undergrads as an after-thought cash-cow and nothing more. Anyone that's ever gone to any 100-level class at any major university knows that the actual educational value of any class taught in a 500-person lecture hall is minimal, at best.

woman went to sit on a toilet seat and immediately was attacked from behind. my first thought was snake bite, then I hear she was in Alaska, in an outhouse. at first she thought it was a squirrel or other small animal. her brother went to inspect the outhouse and saw a bear down in the hole. so she must have been clawed, not bitten. I can't decide if I'd rather be snakebit on a toilet or have a run-in with a bear in an outhouse. but at least we now know a bear does indeed **** in the woods
