    Credit card question

I have a Best Buy card that I plan on paying off completely when I get my tax refund. I have only put Best Buy purchases on it. I am in an interest free for 6 moth promotion. My question is, if I buy something somewhere other than Best Buy with it, I assume I will be charged interest on that item, but will it then charge me interest on the rest of my balance?

    Re: Credit card question

Is it just a Best Buy credit card or does it have Visa/Mastercard attached to it?

The balance where you are doing 6 months will not be charged interest. Check that the card is not a store card, but actually visa or mastercard. If it is you can use it anywhere. One thing you need to read the contract and check how your payments are applied. See if any payments you make will be applied to 6 month balance or the new one that is being charged interest.

*also look at the 6 month as usually if you don't pay it off before the end of 6 months, you will be charged interest for the full 6 months.

When you make the psyment, call in and tell them how to apply it. So if your minimum payment due was 25 and your charge that could bear interest is 80, make a 105 payment and have them apply 80 to that balance.

Yeah, double check this. A lot of these deals just apply to the first purchase....

However, with Jared (jewelry) I got the engagement ring there with 1 year interest free, and then months later got the wedding rings there and they did 1 year interest free there too. Why give them all my money now when I can just pay over a year for free.

                Re: Credit card question

Best Buy/HSBC screwed me over with their credit card. I got their protection plan (like 5$ a month or something) that covered events like of getting laid off from work, death, major medical injury, etc. I could avoid interest and other financial options. Well I got laid off from work, so I contacted their customer service about it, and they claimed that they "didn't have the documentation showing that I was a part of the program." Even though they charged me the 5$ a month for a year or so, they didn't have documentation that I was enrolled in the program.
