Call of Duty has realism tho? I think it caught fire because it helps sooth gamer ADD and provides immense instant gratification.

To me that franchise is vapid and is a microcosm of why the gaming industry is so stale and devoid of more popular, quality IPs.

        Re: Uncommon Opinions

        FYI........

Call of Duty got popular because it moved from WW2 themed games to modern times. More people were more able to relate modern times scenarios, then playing a game that took place before they were even born. Also Call of Duty was one of the 1st games to have DLC and showed other game companies how successful DLC can be.

Not going to like, I logged many hours into COD 4: Modern Warfare. That was the best FPS ever for consoles. Black Ops 2, Black Ops, MW3, etc fails in comparison. Hell I had many friends who upgrade their ISP just for COD 4: Modern Warfare.

I would dare to say, that game pushed online gaming into the main stream, made Comcast and ISP providers a hell of a lot of money. Now everybody and their mama got DLC line up out the wazzoo for their games, even sports games have DLC.

So yeah, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was a gaming industry game changer. Totally changed the mindset of the industry of what was possible.

Hard to imagine that show being underrated anywhere considering its lack of popularity.

I've hit 7 deer since I started driving and paid over $2000 worth of insurance deductibles over that period. I'm sure it would be worse without hunting to help maintain population.

I've also had a deer run out in front of me while I was on a motorcycle and luckily I was able to lay it down easily. It could have been a lot worse.
I've never looked at it like this. I suppose you are right. It's still something I would, personally, never do and honestly don't understand why some people enjoy doing it. If you want to shoot a gun, go to a shooting range or something. I don't know. I could never intentionally harm an animal unless I was in a life or death situation.

But hell, I'm likely on the more extreme side of things when it comes to animals. I even feel bad for fish when they are caught. And I live in Florida.. near the coast, where everyone and their mother likes fishing.

The realism aspect is something I've heard people use in defense of COD, but usually always when the game is being compared to Halo.

I'm totally with you on this, with a few exceptions in certain areas like Chase was talking about.

If you live in or around a major city though, it should be banned outright.

My thing with "a few exceptions" is.. and for the record, I am in no way, shape or form one of those "We have to like, save nature, man" people.. they were there before us.

We've already destroyed their homes with our highways and huge cities, the least we can do is let them live.

I would say it's unfair. I think a lot of people are just unfamiliar with the culture from other parts of the country, except what we hear other people talk about. Like I said, a huge portion of my family hunts and they are all great human beings.. I think not liking to hunt or disapproving is totally different than judging what type of person someone is because they like to hunt animals. Farmers raise animals just to be slaughtered in controlled environments every ****ing day.. I'm sure we're judging those people too while we're eating a delicious hamburger.

I'm not a hunting guy but I'll fish every now and then, but I think there's absolutely nothing wrong with hunting. Venison is amazing.

Yeah, but I just have such a big heart for animals that, unless the animal is killed for food or something else (like fishing or hunting for your dinner) I find it just...terrible.

And when I say judge, I mean I judge their view on animals, not their entire person.
