Re: Uncommon Opinions
I hate Crapplebees. Never had anything good there. Ordered the chicken fingers once (it was late and I just wanted something simple) and they came out tasting like fish - I assume from unclean fry oil.
Plus, they microwave probably 80% of their **** (including one or two of their fish entrees).
Fridays if I'm going out late-night. 99 if I have to eat dinner at a chain. We don't have any Chilli's around here anymore.
Uno's isn't terrible either. However, I work at a chain steakhouse so I generally just eat there 5-6 times a week.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Waffle House, on the other hand, is ****ing legit, but it will never beat that 4am drunk Arby's Chicken, Bacon, and Swiss.
As far as Chillis goes, we actually have one in Sasebo Japan on base and it's just as good as the ones back home. It's definitely my favorite of the chains (Outback, Applebees, O'Charleys, etc.). I think the menu is really well balanced and I'm a sucker for the Presidente Margaritas. I drink at least two every time I visit.
Just be glad you guys have some of the options you have to eat. I'm on the lookout for a Burger King when I visit Tokyo, but I miss the hell out of the chicken, bacon, and swiss from Arbys.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Chili's is my wife's favorite chain restaurant and all I can say is that every entree I've ever had at Chili's has been terrible. For the first five years of our relationship every time my wife wanted to go I always got the same thing no matter if it were lunch or dinner - A Cobb Salad. That and Southwestern Egg Rolls were the only thing good on the menu and what do they do? Discontinue making Cobb Salads..... Seriously, who takes a Salad off of the menu? It's a salad! I'm still pissed about that and it's been over a year.
Anyway, in that time we have found a compromise because I actually found something else that was pretty good there and that's the Classic Chicken Nachos Appetizer. Now we actually go 2-3 times a month now and split a large order of those and a Chocolate Molten Cake (which is the best dessert at any chain restaurant and most local restaurants too, so I will give them that) and I get out of there for under $25 (and that includes a 20-25% tip). That's the best thing about Chili's to me.... it's cheap.
Back to their entrees... I won't say there the worst chain restaurant, but they're certainly not very good. I can name other chain restaurants that are better than Chili's in every area.
Chicken and Steak - Outback. Their Prime Rib is actually close to local restaurant quality.
Ribs - Zea's (Although I'm not sure if it qualify's as a chain since apparently Zea's only locations are in Louisiana and Alabama. There used to be one in Pensacola when I lived there, but it doesn't appear to be there anymore. Considering they had locations in the last three places I've lived (Mobile, Pensacola & Baton Rouge) then they're a chain to me, dammit.
Burgers - Five Guys. And Five Guys isn't even one of my top 4-5 burgers in the Baton Rouge area).
Fajitas - Yuck. If I want Fajitas I'll go to a Mexican Restaurant. I wills say that I'm very picky about Mexican since it's my favorite food. Basically for me if a restaurant doesn't have fresh homemade tortillas, then it's not somewhere I want to eat.
I had there' Pulled Pork once and it was okay. I mainly only eat BBQ at local places, but the one time I at at Moe's BBQ in Birmingham, AL was great and way better than the Pulled Pork at Chili's.
Honestly, I would rather go somewhere and pay double or triple what I would be paying for an entree at Chilis just so I can get some decent food.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Applebee's is pretty good after 10pm. That's when half priced appetizers kick in. Most chain places don't do that. Of course mine shares the parking lot with the bar we go to. So being able to get your typical appetizer food for $3-$5 a serving is pretty damn good. 10 boneless wings I think for $4.50 is hard to beat compared to how expensive they are getting at other places.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
I've been to three Waffle Houses in three different parts of the US and all three were terrible. Chicago served me crispy waffles, Florida served me a biscuit that wasn't fully cooked, and Dallas took an hour to get my food in an empty restauraunt. I have nothing, but negative to say.
Waffle House, on the other hand, is ****ing legit, but it will never beat that 4am drunk Arby's Chicken, Bacon, and Swiss.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
When I was in school, Chili's is where we went whenever we had money. In part for the food, in part because I was in love with the hostess there.
I don't know that I've ever had anything at Chili's other than the Monterrey Chicken. I always get that with mashed potatoes.
I haven't been to Chili's in forever, but there's a new one opening near me soon.Last edited by LowerWolf; 08-14-2014, 11:27 AM.Comment
