Fridays if I'm going out late-night. 99 if I have to eat dinner at a chain. We don't have any Chilli's around here anymore.

Uno's isn't terrible either. However, I work at a chain steakhouse so I generally just eat there 5-6 times a week.

I'm still mad Fridays took the cheesy bacon cheeseburger (with a slab of fried provolone ) off the menu, and that was years ago. I've probably mentioned that about 3 times on OS lol

We're getting an Uno's soon and I'm pretty excited about it. The last restaurant in that building (Damon's) had the giant screen with trivia and you could get the game boards and play along while you wait. Loved that. I've checked out their online menu too and it looks good.

Which leads me to my uncommon opinion: I HAVE to know what I'm ordering before I leave the house. I can't stand not having a plan, my old roommate wouldn't even know where she wanted to go, we'd just leave and pick a place on the fly. Drove me nuts. Now when she visits, the rule is we decide where we're going before we leave, and I load up the online menu and decide what I want. I even practice my order in my head

I never have a plan.

I'm weird. I never, like, crave a certain place or food. Whatever works best for everyone else is always fine for me, I'll find something I like no matter where we go.

And if I'm on my own I literally just drive around until I see somewhere that sounds decent at the moment.

From my experiences, who the cooks are, can make or break a restaurant. You have bad cooks at your location, then yeah their food will taste bad. I like Chilli's Applebees and Ponderosa equally. But then again out here, all 3 are staffed with good cooks who take pride in what they do, including the servers.

I been to those same places in the midwest and down south where I could tell they didn't give a crap and was just there collecting a pay check because they just threw food together on a plate.

I have to have a plan because everything is so spaced out far as national chain places go. You have more family owned diners then anything else in Vermont. Chill's is in town, but Applebees is close to 100 miles away, Ponderosa is 50 miles away, Wendy's is 55 miles away, Popeyes is 20 miles away, White Castles is over 100 miles away.....

So yeah I have a plan before hand.

The Boneless Buffalo Wings w/ Fries or Cajun Chicken Pasta(I'm a sucker for Penne Pasta at restaraunts) were my go to pick up orders at Chilli's. Ordering a little bit before class was over or on the way to drink at my friend's dorm was just the best thing ever as a Freshman.

I'm exactly the same way! Drives my fiancé crazy. I will spend a half a day perusing menus and trying to decide.

It's Thursday and I already have most of our weekend menu laid out.

Tomorrow night local Italian place with friends... Saturday lunch local Mexican place on the River... Sunday I'm gonna throw some rib-eyes on the grill.

Of course, I've been on this "3 on 4 off diet" for a few months and since I'm eating like a bird Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, then I'm always looking ahead to the weekend.

I love Chili's. Definitely my favorite of "that level" of sit down chain restaurant----Applebees, TGIF, etc. I maintain that their chips and salsa is easily my favorite, and I eat legitimate Mexican food all the time considering I live in Southern California.

I don't include places like Buffalo Wild Wings or Cheesecake Factory in my thoughts, though. Buffalo Wild Wings would definitely be tops if I did, but they're more expensive so that's why I don't include them in that echelon.

Often times I'll have a general idea of a few places to go before leaving my house but I won't necessarily decide. It takes me a long time to get from my house to "civilization" so-to-speak so I have time to decide, lol.

Either way, my overall point is that I have zero conniptions about eating at chain restaurants or pizza places. I actually hate when people feel so superior that they have to deride them. Like dude, there's a reason those places got popular and made it big. I am equally likely to eat at a chain restaurant as I am to eat at a local place or a hole in the wall.

Yeah whenever I read yelp reviews about a non-chain restaurant there are always reviewers who mention that its not a chain as if that automatically makes it superior.

For me, whatever Applebee's, chili's, or tgif made I knew place that make that particular food item better so why not go there if the prices were similar was my thinking. That's why I hardly went.

Most of the time I ate at Asian, Middle Eastern/Indian and Mexican joints so it ruled out the popular American places anyway.

I enjoy going to local places, just for the variety and because you're going to get a different atmosphere at a local place vs. a chain place, but I do still enjoy eating at some chain places to. Usually it's six of one. There are, however, outliers. There will be some local places that are better than chain places and vice versa. Just depends on the place. So, I don't really get the snobbery either.
