Agreed with this. I never played anything higher than JV (though, to be fair, I had a really good season my senior year, only hit .300, but my OBP was ridiculous, something like .687, I think. I just wasn't quite good enough to play varsity. Plus, I was a pretty poor fielder.). It is very difficult to hit off of pitchers with good stuff. As they say, hitting a round ball with a round bat is one of the hardest things to do in sports. That having been said... I can't golf to save my life, so to say it isn't a sport is rather crazy, IMO.

Your right, looking back now. I saw someone post something about hitting a baseball and just went from there. But yeah, I don't agree with that at all.Comment

Can't believe I didn't think of this before, I get a lot of perplexed reactions from people when they find this out about me.

 Re: Uncommon Opinions

I think Golf is a very hard sport, but I think hitting a baseball at a high level is the absolute toughest thing to do in sports.

I have hit off Division 1 pitchers and pro pitchers. I was made to look like an idiot many many times. Not trying to sound full of myself, but hitting a baseball was a lot easier for me than most people but even with 20 years of BP and live pitching, myself and the vast majority of hitters can't even get a hit 3 out of 10 times.Last edited by PVarck31; 02-20-2013, 11:47 PM.Comment

Exactly. In baseball, most hall of famers succeed (get a hit) 30 % of the time... in most other things in life, that's a big ol' failure.I think Golf is a very hard sport, but I think hitting a baseball at a high level is the absolute toughest thing to do in sports.

Yes, but as said above, baseball's "active ness" was challenged and to that I say

Play in a high school season followed by a Legion season. That is the absolute minimum when it comes to "active ness" and by late July/early August, it wears on you. Now imagine what it's like for a college season, then a pro season. The time spent on the field is insane compared to other sports.

And do you know how much strain it is on your body to make the same throw/swing so many times? It's unreal that someone thinks that baseball isn't "active"Eagles | Phillies | Sixers | Flyers

Yeah. I'm of the (probably uncommon) opinion that MLB pitchers have the most strain on their bodies in sports, probably tied with NFL offensive linemen.Eagles | Phillies | Sixers | Flyers

 Re: Uncommon Opinions

Running backs get subbed out. Their careers are shorter due to ultimately coming down to a speed/timing thing which wanes as you grow older. I'd still say OL / DL have the most strain on their body throughout the course of a game/season/career by far. Big men hitting and shoving each other every play > getting hit a couple times a drive.

OL/DL careers are seen as a longer-lasting position because strength and leverage are something that naturally grows with you as you age (up until a certain point anyways), whereas speed/agility is much quicker to die out.badComment

Agreed. For me it'd go: OL, DL, RB, Pitchers Arms, catchers' legs and then hockey goalies groin muscles, solely because no mans legs are supposed to move like theirs do.
