Re: Uncommon Opinions
I had a thread on this at one point, yesterday validated my opinion that I think we should standardize many of our holidays to specific days of the week / month, similar to how we handle Thanksgiving, Labor Day, Memorial Day, etc.
Moving Halloween to the last Friday / Saturday of October would make it so much better for the kids (adults will throw a Halloween party whenever). Going out on a Tuesday night with school the next day definitely takes some of the fun out of it for the kids and keeping them out late has to make school on Nov 1 unproductive for many.
I'd like to move other holidays that typically involve large or elaborate celebrations by the masses (Christmas, maybe even Independence day (though would be tough to not call it the 4th of July), etc.).
While we're at it...Super Bowl Saturday...or make the day after Super Bowl a National Holiday (move President's day to the day after since the actual date has no real meaning).
I would rather have moving holidays than to lose out on an extra day during the week to be away from work.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Government has outgrown it's usefulness and needs a massive scaleback. Not full on anarchy, but much closer to the 1790's as opposed to how it is today.

Christmas, Halloween and Independence Day will never move days. There are reasons they are on a certain day.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Of course there are reasons...there are reasons for every holiday and the day it falls on. Just my uncommon opinion that I'd like them to permanently move to different days that are more convenient for many (not all).Last edited by Trevytrev11; 11-01-2017, 06:07 PM.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
4/3 weeks, but what if the 4 were 10 hour days? You still get in your 40 hours, but get more off time.
Really though, 4 days, 8 hours from productivity standpoint in some companies are worth it. Less tired and more motivated people are to work, the better for the company.Comment
