Re: Uncommon Opinions
The Red Sox have never signed anyone to a 10 year/$275 million contract.
The biggest contracts the Sox have signed recently, albeit the two players aren't on the team anymore, were Adrian Gonzalez and Carl Crawford.
Gonzalez's contract extension was 7 years/$154 million, and Crawford signed for 7 years/$142 million.
Those are still huge contracts in comparison to other sports, but nowhere near what New York pays for players. More examples include Mark Texiera at 8 years/$180 million, Jeter at 10 years/$189 million, Sabathia at 7 years/$161 million (the largest contract for a pitcher in MLB history), hell even Ichiro was on the list of Top 25 Highest Paid Players of 2012 making 18 million last season.Boston Red Sox

Re: Uncommon Opinions
EDIT: And the Angels are starting to get there, with Pujols' 10/$254 million deal and on a smaller scale Josh Hamilton's 5 year/$125 million contract. Not to mention Vernon Wells' backloaded contract that made him the 2nd highest paid player last season.Last edited by TripleCrown9; 02-26-2013, 05:19 PM.Boston Red Sox

Wow. It's like the baseball version of Bama/Auburn. They derail threads and make them about themselves the same way. Cool.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Man, whatever. I'm not trying to derail anything. I posted an apparently very uncommon opinion about the Yankees overpaying players, and now I'm just defending that opinion. Just like everyone else is doing with the things they post.Boston Red Sox

Re: Uncommon Opinions
LOL stop pretending that's why people are getting on you. Yankees have overpaid a lot of guys but a Red Sox fan shouldn't be singling anyone out. Quit before you fall further behind.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

^Exceptions, not the rule.
You're better than that, now. And weren't Paul Pierce and KG considered Top 5(or Top 3)at their positions at the time too??#RespectTheCultureComment
