How much of the show did you watch?

Uncommon opinions and all, I know, but I don't know how anyone who gave the show a real chance could think it's awful.

On Breaking Bad....my son loves it and I'm fully aware of it's story as he excitedly relayed it to me. I'd see him watching episodes and sit and watch with him sometimes. I also agreed to sit and watch the first couple of episodes to see if I'd get into it.

I didn't get into it, but I see that it is a quality show.

The reason for me not getting into it is I simply can't buy the premise. The character is a good guy, a father, teacher, husband. I'm just not buying that he would choose to make meth and sell it when he understands how bad that stuff is and how many lives he's helping to destroy. His son and wife would not want that, nor would they want the money knowing how he got it. I don't see the nobility in this at all, and just could not buy it.

TV shows and movies ask you to suspend your disbelief to tell a story. I could not do that for this show. Just a reach I couldn't make.

Having said that...the scene in one episode where they are chasing a fly around the lab was hilarious.

I always call the Chinese Restaurant here to make sure they have Crawfish on the buffet before I go out.

I would never pay more then like $20 for steak and even then i'd rather just get something else that feeds me more for cheaper. I'm not a restaurant chef, but i'm confident in my ability to make a $9 steak from the store to taste close enough.

Also I hate any show on AMC, all are completely boring.

I think someone who is feeling desperate and who feels they have nothing to lose doing whatever it takes to provide for their family is very realistic. Being able to pull it all off might be where you have to suspend your disbelief, but I don't think Walt's decision making is that much of a reach.

Worse decisions have been made by desperate people. So it's not that much of a suspension IMO.

While that may be true, it's not usually concerning someone I'm supposed to like in a lead role on a tv show.

And in the case of stuff like The Sopranos or any other shows with characters who are 'morally challenged', Walter's actions are negatively affecting hundreds or even thousands of people's lives, not just a few. And they are people he doesn't even know or hate.

What I dislike is the scope of the people whose lives he is affecting, possibly including teens/kids. On top of that, he's putting his family in danger through his illegal activities.

I'm not trying to be preachy or goodie-two-shoes here; I like dark stories and dark humor. I'm only pointing out the why's as to me not getting into Breaking Bad. It might be interesting for me if Walter was essentially a bad guy who had some intriguing, good qualities mixed in....sort of the flip-flop of what BB brings to the table. I guess the problem there is that meth might be too glamorized by the show.

I think that is something the show has done extremely extremely well over its lifetime. Unlike any other show I've seen for character development.

In the beginning he was just a dude on his deathbed trying to provide future wealth for his family before he bit it.

Each season has seen him turn incrementally more towards his evil side. He is essentially the bad guy, with 1 or 2 redeeming qualities now compared to 5 years ago.

See, that's actually kind of interesting then that the business finally corrupts him. I'd think you would harden over time dealing with that.

His wife is in the business now indirectly: money laundering. At least from what I recall. Really need to watch season 5A again.

Plain bread is pretty dull. I cant think of any regular bread that was particularly tasty on its own.

Chinese American food ain't all that. I can only half enjoy it once in a great while. Never understood how some can eat it as often as they do. Authentic Chinese cuisine is delicious though.

Never developed a liking for Lobster which is strange considering how popular it is around my part of the country. You don't find many who refuse to eat it around here.
