    Re: Cringe-inducing childhood memories?

In 7th grade I was on my way back from gym class at the park near my school. My friends were talking crap to some really fat kid. He responded by pushing one of my friends. I promptly stepped in, shoved him, and said "what was that, fat ****?" my gym teacher starts to yell at me, I flip him off, flip the rest of the class of and said "**** all of you" and walked home. Got the whooping of my life.

In 8th grade, I was the best player on my middle school team. I screwed up and missed a box out the first play of the game and my coach benched me. Fast forward to the third quarter and i still didnt get in the game again and I got mad and put on my street clothes. My coach came over and said "if youre gonna do that, go sit in the stands" I said, "I will." I got up off the bench and sat in the stands. The reason I was so upset was because this was the first game that my parent ever saw me play, so I wanted to impress them. Still was out of line. Anyway, that coach became the assistant coach at the school where I play high school ball now, and we are completely cool now. Even joke about this event in practice.

Sure you weren't actually trying to balance on a basketball while making your bed?

        Re: Cringe-inducing childhood memories?

Where I used to live, my parents built me a new room when I turned 11 and they thought it would be cool to just build it to where I had a small flight of stairs going down into my room from the hallway. It's actually pretty neat.

Anyways, I had a bunch of friends over on my 12th birthday and my sister and me got into an argument and she ended up power bombing me down the flight of stairs in front of all of my friends..

        Very embarrasing and painful.

        []

When I was a little kid my dirtbike was messed up, but my dad had a few old style mopeds (they looked like a bike with a motor on them), but they would fly. I had one that would go almost 45 mph and I had street legal tires on.

Anyways, I wanted to ride and my mom told me no because it was raining. They typically didn't care, but she didn't want me tearing up the front yard and they had the entrance into the trails behind the house blocked off with some equipment. I decided to ignore her and ride anyways. I came around the corner of the house going maybe 30mph on wet grass and laid it over and the entire left side of my upper torso and legs caught on the side of the house.

I stood up with my entire left leg covered in blood and my left arm and face were cut up bad. I thought I was dying. My mom took one look at me when I went back in and said, "I told your *** not to be riding in the rain".

She proceeded to clean me up and then whipped my ***...

I could go on for days, but to summarize, I learned a lot of lessons as a kid

          Re: Cringe-inducing childhood memories?

-When I was about 11 or 12 I set up a ladder and went to climb onto the garage roof. I don't remember why, I think I was just bored and wanted to hang out up there. Anyway I had the ladder on uneven ground because I was stupid, and when I got to the top step of the ladder and was about to get on the roof, the ladder tipped over. I took about a 10 foot fall, landed flat on my back and knocked the wind out of me. I though I gonna die lol. My back then hurt for weeks.

-When I was in like middle school I had a friend who's parents left us unsupervised pretty much all the time. We could do pretty much anything we wanted and they didn't care. He had a lot of land too and a pond. So we used to go catch bullfrogs at the pond, then take firecrackers, bottle rockets, and any other explosives we could find and make frog grenades lol. We also made a lot of "works bombs" and blew all kinds of stuff up. And we would just go out shooting our .22's at anything we could find, frogs, birds, rabbits, anything. Yeah a bunch of middle schoolers playing with explosives and guns, I don't know how none of us got blown up or shot lol.

-When I was a sophmore, a friend and I were pulling a log out of our woods with my fourwheeler. I think at the time I had Yamaha Kodiak 400. So We strapped the quad to the tree, and it was a pretty big log so I knew I need to give it a good pull, so I gunned the gas. I took off and moved the log about a foot and then it got caught on another tree and stopped the quad dead in its tracks. I proceeded to do a front flip over the handlebars, crack my head on the rack, and land on the ground in front of the quad. My head was bleeding and I got a concussion.

-When I was about 8 or 9ish I was at my uncles house and stole a can of his dip. If I remember right it was Copenhagen Long Cut. I didn't want it to use though, I just wanted a dip ring in my back pocket from carrying it. So I put the can in my pocket and proceeded with my day. I was in his garage with him an hour or so later helping him work on his truck. He saw the dip in my pocket and asked why the hell I had that in my pocket and where did I get it. I told him I took it from him and just wanted it for looks. So he said give it here and said "If you think you're man enough to carry it around then be man enough to take a pinch." So he took a big 3 finger pinch and put it in my mouth and said keep it there till I say you can spit it out. So I kept it in for about 5 minutes then puked all over the place. I never touched the stuff again until I was 16.

I'd be careful about posting stories about animal abuse, kids alone with guns, and random hunting, but that's just my opinion (given all the school shooting kids out there and whatnot)...

I guess I can kinda see where you are coming from. But I was just sharing some of my cringe-inducing and stupid stories from my childhood. We all do idiotic things when we were young and stupid, I'm not condoning or recommending others to do the stuff I shared, just shared it like what the thread is for. A lot of the stuff I did when I was young was stupid, but that's sorta the point in this thread to share it.

And kids shooting guns does not equal school shootings. You've been watching a little too much Fox news I think. I've been hunting and handling guns since I was 7 or 8 years old. I know my gun safety and how to handle them.

LOL sorry, just been hearing all the stuff about the Newtown shooter on the radio and Today show.

I agree that we all do stupid stuff, and wasn't judging you...Mass Media's somewhat trying to blame video games for Newtown, let alone random gun play...just something I thought about cause it's all over the news now.

                    Lmao

After watching Snow White when I was 3, I went to the bathroom and wished at the toilet bowl.

                    My wish wasn't granted sadly.

whenever I had to speak in front of class in junior high and high school, not grade school mind you, junior high and high school, I couldn't. I'd start to cry and just go back to my desk and put my head down for the rest of class. thing was, from 8th grade to 10th grade, teachers never stopped trying to make me, even after knowing what was coming. finally with 11th grade, they just completely stopped asking. I was never more thankful in my youth than being able to spend the entire 11th grade school year w/o openly crying in front of every class, kid, teacher and God.

For me, 2 things stand out.

                              1. 2nd half of high school. Those last 2 years had so many cringe worthy moments, partially from me, other part due to other people. It helps me though when I remember that most people hate high school in the moment and moreso when they look back on it, so I'm not alone. But theres just so much from a social point of view I just hate so much about HS that I was so glad I got away from the day I graduated. I haven't even spoken to 99% of those people since graduation day, and none of them has ever contacted me since, asking why I haven't kept in touch. Some were even people I knew for over a decade.

                              2. This one is embarrassing. To give a backstory, some schools here only go up to grade 5, and others go all the way to grade 8. So grade 6 is when students from those other schools come to this one for the final 3 years before high school. So in grade 6, my teacher during one of the first days thought it would be fun to have a "get to know your new classmates" part of class. Everyone gets paired up with someone who they didnt go to school with last year. I got paired with let's just call them a bigger built person with long hair. So when it was our turn to talk about each other infront of the class, I started talking about this individual. I was like "She likes __. And her favourite food is ___." And then suddenly, that person is like "HE". And I'm just awkwardly trying to play it off like I had no idea I added an S to HE. On the plus side, I dont think anyone else even caught that, because nobody ever brought it up to me, which for sure they would've made fun of me for if they did hear it.

So to sum it up, there was a fat kid in my class with long hair that I mistook for a girl....In my defense, it was the first time I ever met a guy who let's just say had a big chest.
