Q: Do I need to go ahead and take that online safe driving course to get the points off my license? (about $100) Don't need an increase in insurance premium.

Got a 2nd speeding ticket
Was late heading to church today.... Highway Patrolman coming the opposite direction on a 2 lane highway. Didn't see him til it was too late to slow down. 64 in a 55. $81 ticket due first week in March.

This link has some info for SC, basically just take the class, notify the court, and points will be removed.

Impressive.(I'm being facetious)
I'm not saying to fight the ticket...but was he guessing? Did he have radar with the capability for motion detection(I've been out of law enforcement for quite some time....radar(non stationary) may be more prevalent now...I don't know.
Just throwing it out there.

He was in motion on the other side of the road and figured you for 9 miles over?(he may have been doing you a favor keeping it under 10 MPH over)
Impressive.(I'm being facetious)

Re: Got a 2nd speeding ticket
Our 16 yr old son, last year, was caught going 15 over. I was caught going 14 over a few months earlier.
My wife was caught going over 10 2 years ago and the year before that our daughter hit a tree backing up and we collected the deduction for the damage.
If we would have let the speeding tickets stand, we would be paying high rates for our insurance with 4 drivers on our insurance, two teenagers.
Talked to a lawyer friend and he hooked me up with a lawyer that handles speeding tickets. He usually charges $300.00, but because I was a referel, he charged me $200.00 for each ticket, had to pay the fines, which increased, and he would get them both reduced to a moving violation ticket. 0 points for the insurance.
That's the route we took.Last edited by roadman; 02-25-2013, 09:24 AM.Comment

Re: Got a 2nd speeding ticket
Every time I hear people say how much their speeding tickets are, I think for a second about slowing down, but then I remember my time is precious. I've gotten too used to cruising at 80-85 on the highway on my long trips to slow down now. And doesn't really kill my gas mileage either, which I've never been able to figure out, but I'll take it.Comment
