    Vegas Tips Anyone?

A couple friends and I are planning on going to Vegas for a few days.

We are all 25-26, single and so we are just looking to have as much fun as possible.

Any tips on best hotels to stay, deals, ways to save money, must-do's, dont-do's, best nightclubs, etc would all be greatly appreciated.

    Re: Vegas Tips Anyone?

If you are serious about gambling and don't want to be a total "tourist" then downtown is much better than the strip. The strip is okay for what it is, but I enjoy downtown on Fremont Street soooooo much more.

If you stay downtown, the Golden Nugget has the nicest rooms for very reasonable prices. Definitely a lot more affordable than anywhere on the strip and the quality is almost the same, unless you're talking about some of the crazy deluxe suites.

Another thing that blows about the strip is that everything is so far away from each other. Just to walk to a casino right next door or across the street is a 15-20 minute hike due to all of the stairs and everything you must climb in order to cross Las Vegas Blvd. Also, you have literally hundreds of jerks trying to shove flyers in your faces at all times when you are walking around on the strip. The banned this practice downtown years ago and it is all the better because of it.

So basically, if you're young and care about touristy type stuff and want to spend more money than you have to and aren't serious about getting good odds on your gamble, then the strip is for you. It also helps if you don't mind walking 5-10 miles a day.

If you want have just as much fun and spend half the money on accommodations (or even less, since downtown casinos are better with comps for small time players) and be hassled a lot less, then downtown is for you.

EDIT- Of course, if you do decide to stay downtown I would recommend you do at least go to the strip for one night just to see it. No other stretch of road in the world is like it, but I only try to spend one evening there per Vegas trip myself. Blackjack at the MGM Grand is pretty cool (the best dealers in Vegas) and the pit bosses are great guys. Other than that though, screw the strip. Seriously.

Double EDIT- If you do decide to stay downtown, let me know and I will tell you all of the things you need to do there, the best places to eat, the best odds on specific games, the best dealers, the best eye candy, etc.

55 hit it right on the head. You'll have a great time downtown but definitely go down to the strip. We were downtown this past Friday and man it's never a bad time.

The Double Down Lounge is the home of the "Bacon Martini" and the most "real" clientele of true LV rockers / hipsters / eccentrics...

The Peppermill Lounge is about the only true "Rat Pack" kinda joint left...featured prominently in the movie "Casino"...

I always stay at the Nugget (nice pool, proximity to some hipster downtown spots like Beauty Bar and The Griffin) or the Stratosphere (less congested in the "no mans land" between the majority of the Strip and Freemont)...plus Circle K Convienence store and Carl's Jr. make this the place to "play on a budget"...

The Sports Book at Encore and The Venetian are great spots to hang, watch EVERY televised sporting event SIMULTANEOUSLY and if you place a couple two dollar bets on the ponies...drinks are free!

If you don't know how to gamble or don't want to lose your cash while experiencing gambling, the casinos have "classes" that are a lot of fun...plus you can meet / interact with the single females that take these things...

          Bottom line:

If you don't gamble a lot or get sloppy drunk and obnoxious, you can visit there VERY inexpensively...the folks I mentioned in the "don't category" will pick up your "slack"...

Let us know how it all works out and have fun!!!

Oh and don't miss "Fat Elvis" at whatever the Barbary Coast is called now...

I say stay on the strip. If you guys are 25-26 and really looking to "get down" Somewhere in the center is good for you.

PH is pretty reasonably priced and only a short walk from at least 3 casinos (you can get to Cosmo and Paris in less than 15 minutes using the bridge). Marquee is the hottest club on the strip.

If you are hitting up some clubs I'd recommend getting on a guest list or teaming up with a group of girls.

What are you looking to do?

We stay on the strip when we go, but that's because we go and enjoy the shows.

The nightlife on the strip is unmatched, so the only reason to stay downtown is if you are there purely to gamble.

There are so many things to do there that I can't really recommend one place, just look around for what catches you eye and check out yelp.

Stay away from strip clubs. The Saphire makes you have a drink in front of you at all times.......a beer is $14

I've posted my thoughts in some of the old Vegas threads over the years.

When are you planning on going?

I'm due to go back there.

I'd definitely recommend hitting Tao (night club in the Venetian I believe)

DON'T stay at Circus Circus. It doesn't matter how cheap they advertise. Trust me it's just not worth it.

I'm assuming by the tone of your post that you want to party, so stay on the strip.

If you don't rent a car, take a taxi from the airport to your room. Those shuttles stop at every casino and it can easily end up taking an hour or more. Just not worth the $8 you end up saving.

During the day hit a pool party like Wet Republic.

Tao, Marquee and Pure are the clubs to be at.

Have a solid buzz going on before you head out. Crown and Coke runs $16 in clubs.

It's nice to chill, mid day at a sports book. Tons of games on tons of tvs, drinks, cigars. Place a few bets and sweat the action, etc.

Don't burden yourself with a ton of plans. Vegas is the ultimate random city. Shut your phone off, leave your watch in the room and just go make some mistakes.

Yea, your goal should be to lose a tooth, get a tiger in the bathroom, a mattress on the roof, and meet Mike Tyson.
