Re: What kind of relationship do you have with your boss?
I worked with my sales manager for two years at my last job and I helped him convince my cousin to be his Chief of Police, after he won the race for Mayor in his home city. We have a pretty good relationship.
No one really takes my GM that seriously. He's a nice guy and he's bought into the company and seems to believe in what he's saying, but there are a lot of times where he doesn't seem to hear what anyone says and even though he talks about "taking ownership" of our role and job at work, he'll be the first to tell us what we should be doing after we tell him what our plan is with specific tasks and such. The GM before him.. I have no use for. He was a psychology major and he liked to think he could toy with everyone's minds and emotions at work. **** that ****.. he was fake as hell and I couldn't respect him because of that.
I'm still really good friends with my supervisor from my last job. His wife actually helped me get the job I have now. I work with his wife here. My old supervisor, his wife, and my current Sales Manager all worked together at a Home Depot roughly one hour drive away from here.
I believe in networking.
I concur with the e-mails and ****, though. They believe in Microsoft Outlook here at work.Comment

Re: What kind of relationship do you have with your boss?
It's a laid back work relationship. I work for a small company where everyone knows each other so it's a very laid back environment. However, I'm 23 so it's hard to really bond with my bosses as they're all in their 50's or early 60's.
As far as our work relationship, like I said it's laid back, but one of my supervisors and the owner of the company I feel like they don't trust me or know what I can do, etc. The owner of the company moreso. Him and I are good, but he often jokes around with me like I don't know what I'm doing or I'm lazy or something. It's hard to explain.
It's frustrating. I understand a little because when I first started I literally didn't know anything about the trade, but I've been there a year and 2+ months now. I've learned a **** ton. I'm more than deserving of a raise at least. If they would come out and watch me, watch what I know, what I can do, how hard I work, etc maybe it'd be different. I don't know.
I still get questions from one of my supervisors asking me if I know how to do something that anyone who's worked in that field for 2 months should know. It annoys me. Like, you really don't think I know how to do that after 14+ months of experience?Indianapolis Colts

I work hourly jobs so I don't consider these people my boss, more my manager.
At the pizza shop, the shift managers are just like regular employees. In fact, I run shift every now and then so I'm kinda a hybrid. There's never issues with me because I just go in and do my work, but some others slack off and the one manager is good at drawing the line. Everyone respects him because he works his *** off here and at another 40hr week job. He's kinda a role model to me as far as hard work goes. The other guy is new but he doesn't have a firm hand yet. It'll come. As far as the GM, don't trust her as far as I can spit. She works with my schedule, well usually, but I've seen people get thrown under the bus and backed up on. She's one of those people who will bitch at you for something but turn around and do it. Can't respect that.
At my other job, I have a pretty good casual relationship with my direct supervisor. He doesn't care how it gets done, just that it does. The actual GM and AGM are more hardass. When they're around, I'm on my best behavior. I respect them though, they don't deviate from what they expect and demand. But they're good people, and they care. I'm good at keeping a relationship light and not so serious and they've taken to that, but I've also shown I bust my *** too and I'm one of the top employees having only been there 7 months now.
The two companies are night and day. And management kinda reflects that company line. One is cut throat, we're all expendable. The other treats us as actual real people (amazing!), and so that trickles down. It really does wonders for the store morale.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

I don't treat my boss any different than I do any of my other co-workers,
in fact I view 'em as c0-workers. IMO, they are nothin' more than
"disseminators of information", the owner of my company is "the" boss
as far as I'm concerned.Comment
