I wouldn't be away from home five nights per week. On my short weeks, I would be gone two. On my long weeks I would be gone three. 10 nights total for the month.

And being on 12 hour shifts, a 3 to 3.5 hour commute would kill me, not to mention what that would cost in fuel. I definitely see the point about my wife having all three kids constantly when I am gone, but she would have help. Her cousin, who is really more like a sister to her, has three little kids too and they would help each other out a great deal. There's other family and friends there too, as well as her dad and my kids' grandpa.

Financially... Well, it would be huge. We do not have car payments and eliminating our mortgage would be... Well, ridiculous is what it would be. We could put away some serious money to say the least.

I am not just trying to paint a rosy picture because I understand minor parts of it might be hard at first... But it seems like such an amazing opportunity.

Thanks guys, keep the comments coming. It's great for me to talk this all out.

Husker... My only real worry at this point is selling our house if that's what we choose to do. We just bought it in December of 2012. I have already got in touch with my realtor and he said waiting a year at least would be best because selling so soon after buying would be expensive.

What are your thoughts on that?

          ----

I would definitely have reservations about renting it. It's a nice house - a very nice house. I don't know much about property management companies, either. Having a rental investment property is pretty enticing but I am not sure if it will be worth the headache.

Hell naw. I got away from that woman.

Nearest neighbors are at least a couple of acres away.

              Does your wife work?

We have three kids, and they were 6, 4 and and newborn, and we both worked.

I was 45 minutes away and she was 20 minutes.

Luckily, we found a great sitter down the block from us.

I can't imagine my wife home alone all day(not saying your wife would be home alone all day) with three kids under 5.

I'd say go for it if the pros outweighs the cons.

She does not work... But has a serious passion and talent for photography and I'd love to see her start a little side business for herself... I know, we're in the age where everyone is a photographer, but she is passionate about it and has been paid in the past to take pictures at birthday parties and such.

She definitely wouldn't mind being home with them. She is content being a stay at home mom and there would be so much there for the boys to do.

I'd get my man cave too, and that damn baseball card thread that uber posted has my mind spinning about my future man cave there.
