Re: Creating a Resume
Keep it clean..no longer than one page, but fill up that one page.
It also depends what level of experience you have and for what you are applying for. -
Re: Creating a Resume
avoid the "paragraph" at the top. Used to be common to write a paragraph using buzzwords basically selling yourself.
Name, address, etc
Education
Job history most recent to oldest, try to avoid jobs prior to going to college "Babysat my neighbors cat for 3 years without incident"
change your resume here and there as you apply to jobs. For one job your experience might be best shaded one way, and for another, shaded in a different way.Comment

Do all that and then at the end say that you can and will use your pimp hand when necessary.
No, don't. But I did, when I was 19. I didn't want the job and at the bottom of my résumé in fine print, it said, "Also can and will display my pimp hand... That's the back side. I don't like being told no and when I am, it tends to come out."
The dude interviewing me was pretty young and laughed his *** off. Then he told me to get out.
Oh well, won a case of beer out of the deal from a buddy who didn't think I would do it.
And sorry OP, this reply has been an absolute waste of your time.Comment

Re: Creating a Resume
Sort of off topic, but not really: How badly does it hurt your chances not ever having an actual job in the field you're going into? Obviously I'll have an internship under my belt before I go out and get a job and I'll have some experience in the field itself, but does it hurt you to never have had a job pertaining to the field you're in?MLB: Minnesota Twins
NFL: Philadelphia Eagles
NBA: Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves
European Football: Manchester United, Brighton & Hove Albion
NCAA: UNI Panthers, Iowa Hawkeyes

Re: Creating a Resume
best bet is to intern for a good company, and get a job with them after you graduate, thats the easiest way. Otherwise apply for their competition as they will look highly on the internship in most cases.Sort of off topic, but not really: How badly does it hurt your chances not ever having an actual job in the field you're going into? As long as you arent applying for a mid career position, most companies go through hiring processes throughout the year looking for entry level workers. it is competitive though.Comment
