    A Terrible Accident

Last night, I was at the county fair, and I saw a bunch of girls that I knew that were crying. Not knowing anything about the situation, I simply chalked it up to girls being girls and crying over a breakup or something. However, later on I found out that a girl who I had gone to school with was killed in a car accident. She was driving on a gravel road, when she hit some loose gravel, flipped her car, and was thrown from it. She was killed on impact.

I did not have the chance to get to know this girl, as she was a year younger than I was, but I had one class with her last year and she was one of those girls that would brighten up the room with her smile. She was a beautiful girl who had her whole life ahead of her, and it just got taken from her just like that. It's not fair.

Our entire community of roughly 1,000 people is mourning today, it's just so sad. It's just shocking that she won't be around any longer. I just needed to say something about this just to clear it from my mind...

    Ashley Marx is it? RIP.

Someone I graduated with also recently passed away in a car accident, so I can sympathize.

Man, that sucks. Couldn't imagine if that happened to someone I knew. RIP.

Wow. Condolences man. That's tough. Too many of those accidents are happening. I can't personally relate, but I know some people whose friends were killed while driving to the funeral for the Newtown shooting victims.

You know, in a strange way, these kinds of things can actually end up being beneficial, particularly in bringing out the best in people. We had a similar situation during my sophomore year of college. A girl in my home town rear ended a bus and was killed, but, the community as a whole really pulled together and there were tons of amazing things that I saw happen. People raising money to support the family, etc. This was also in the middle of our football team's playoff run, and they ended up winning the state title and dedicated it to the memory of the girl. It was one of those turning a curse into a blessing sort of things.

              Tragic, very tragic.

Looks like she wasn't wearing a seat belt according to reports.

Sorry to hear that. These type tragedies happen every day, but they usually don't hit close to home....until the one day it does.

                You just never know.

Very sad news to hear, my condolences go out to her family, friends & the community. I can relate as my parents hit black ice back in 09 and my dad almost died. He had 7 broken ribs, broken shoulder blade & blood on the brain. Thankfully he recovered but it really put everything into perspective for me. You never know when something like this can happen and you can never really be prepared for it.

Very sad to hear this. My condolences go to her family and everyone who personally knew her. My cousin was killed in a car accident at the age of 27 so I know what her family is going through right now.
