I just wore mine down over tiime...a 6-7 hour hiatus of gaming and cussing at a video screen is pretty much accepted now. I manage it fairly though, we watch plenty of tv/movies together and always make "time" for each otherOriginally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: Women vs. Xbox and Playstation
To me, it isn't any different than balancing gaming with anything else in life that is important (GF/wife, family/friends, working, exercise, other hobbies). I am 31, a married professional with a baby on the way and I do find time to game. If gaming ever interferes with something more important in my life, I know I am way out of balance and am a problem gamer.
edit: let me say this, its not a balance of not playing so my wife doesn't get mad (she doesn't, because she reads or has other hobbies that she does) but its a balance so I can achieve goals in my life. If my wife got mad at the gaming (or any other hobby) I'm not sure how I would handle itLast edited by ESPNdeportes; 07-26-2013, 05:15 PM."You can not ensure success, but you can deserve it." - John Quincy Adams

Yep, it's all about compromise. You can't play every night, but she also has to know you need time to do what you enjoy to do. If you are with someone and they don't respect you enough to give you alone time to enjoy your hobbies, you might want to rethink the relationship.Comment

It's my hobby. She respects it like I respect her hobbies.
I couldn't be in a relationship where my hobbies weren't respected.

Re: Women vs. Xbox and Playstation
Lots of good comments here. As everyone else said, balance is key. I'm 46 with 2 elementary school kids. I typically do my gaming after everyone is asleep (or away) unless I'm playing with my son. But I also generally only play "family friendly" games (mostly sports games). I want my son to see that I choose not to play violent or "mature" games. And he knows that if he wants to game with me, he has to choose a sports game.
I don't go out drinking with the guys, watch much TV or look at porn. Fortunately, my wife realizes this so she views my gaming with that perspective.Comment
