I would definitely start them on old school consoles. Nothing higher then N64/PS1. Seems like a really good idea for some reason.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

I LOVE the WiiU feature where each user has their own saves. My little guy logs in as his Mii, and I don't have to worry about him screwing up any of my games or saves; it's his own world to do what he wants.

My mom likes to brag that i could almost beat Mario by the time I was three. She regretted letting me play too much video games and it was and still is a large part of my life. I think I would be a perfect example of the reason for moderating the amount of play time for video games. They definitely affected my schoolwork. Madden 05 killed my junior and senior year.

Re: Children who game
My grandfather is actually the person who taught me how to play video games. Specifically Super Mario Bros. 1,2, & 3. I was probably around 4-5 when I first started playing. I think starting out on older consoles with simpler controllers is a good way to go for a young child.
My son is only 16 months old, but he always holds my second PS3 controller when I'm playing a game. I still have my NES and it works great. I plan on starting him out with that in a few years. Then we'll move up to SNES. I still have my Game Gear too which I think would be cool for him to play for car rides and things like that.
Basically, I think 4-5 is a good age to start.Comment

Re: Children who game
My dad got me hooked on Sonic the Hedgehog on the ole Genesis back in the day. I was probably about 2 or 3.
I got a Playstation when I was about 5 or 6, played Army Men, Gran Turismo, Driver, WWF Smackdown, and other games nonstop. Then I went to my cousin's and played his PS2 when I was probably about 7 or 8. First game I played on there was GTA 3 lol. Didn't take me long to start realizing how violent some of these games were, and I loved them all. GTA, Max Payne, Red Dead Revolver, Manhunt, Medal of Honor, and others. Started getting into football games, and played those nonstop along with wrestling.
I got started way, way, way too young, and played way, way, way too much.Twitter: @TyroneisMaximus

Re: Children who game
My dad, my sister's and I used to play four player split screen on Goldeneye, or Mario Kart 64, all the freakin' time.
And before that, we used to play that damn Aladdin video game all the freaking time. We must've beaten that game as kids 200 times.Comment

My son started @ 4, he's 5 now, be 6 in September. We play the Lego games, I let him do some of the super-hero games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Some of the other movie-based games he likes too: Shrek, Bolt, Madagascar.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: Children who game
So I downloaded the Marvel Lego and Batman 3 Lego demos and my son seemed to really enjoy them. Bought Marvel Lego for $5 off of Amazon (his first game. His elf on the shelf brought it to him) and he has fun with it. I also have thought about Skylanders or Disney Infinity, but not sure. Any thoughts on a handheld device for an almost 4 year old?
Thanks!Comment

Re: Children who game
My one year old dude picked up my controller the other day, paused my FIFA game and went into the Game Settings - and started messing around with sliders, I kid you not.
I was a proud daddy, until I saw him raise Acceleration to 90 and Shot speed to 100, then dropped the controller on the floor. Still proud though!Comment

I was playing Mordor and my 10 month old son kept trying to grab and smack the controller....definitely wants to do what Daddy's doing.
I'll be gaming with him over time, but still a bit young obviously.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Children who game
I remember watching my mom play Final Fantasy on Playstation and Mario on SNES. Eventually I just started playing those and she bought me more stuff for it.
Now a days it seems you can just hand a kid a tablet at any age and get started from what i've seen. Like 70% of my 1st graders love Minecraft and that shocked me.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment
