Anyone ever go backpacking?

After meeting backpackers from around the world they really intrigued me to try it out. I'm planning for Thailand first, then India in the next couple years.

My goals are to go to different towns, stay at hostels and really check out the culture in the different countries to get good grasp how backpackers live because I'll be building a hotel, hostel and yoga retreat in my new home in El Nido in the next 5 years.

I just bought an Osprey Aether 60 Liter pack which I really like but not sure if I should exchange it for the 70 L that's 30 bucks more. I know the goal is trying to travel and light as possible but I'll be going on trips that are at least 2 weeks to up to a month.



Would love to hear any feedback/tips before planning my trip. Thanks!

Things are going as planned! The hotel is first on the list and we are breaking ground in January. Aiming at 18 months before we open so I have a lot of time to do "research." It's going to be over 40 rooms so its going to take awhile.

The hostel will actually be the easiest to setup since I don't have to invest as much to get that up at all. Most of it can be made out of bamboo and it'll be right on the beach which is a big plus.

The yoga retreat was a recent idea I wanted to make out of clay which can be made from materials all from the land. It's my dream project but that will be a good while before I begin to even plan it. The location is one of a kind. Its in the mountains looking over the pacific ocean. If it goes right it'll be world famous.
