How do you cook your Turkey?

This year, I'm in charge of the turkey. I usually smoke the turkey, but ever since my old smoker went up in flames, I haven't done one since. I'm thinking of the good ol' oven and just butter, lots and lots of butter. But not sure what else to throw on it. Does anyone have a go to brine or rub for turkeys?

This is my go to Thanksgiving and Easter turkey.

Been using this recipe for several years.

      <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,124,0" width="400" height="323"><param name="movie" value="http://common.scrippsnetworks.com/common/snap/snap-3.2.20.1-embed.swf?channelurl=http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/channel/xml/0,,42604-VIDEO,00.xml&channel=42604"/><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"/><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"/><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF"/><embed src="http://common.scrippsnetworks.com/common/snap/snap-3.2.20.1-embed.swf?channelurl=http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/channel/xml/0,,42604-VIDEO,00.xml&channel=42604" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" width="400" height="323"/></object>

I do use a charcoal grill instead of the gas grill.

I started frying ours a few years ago and will never go back to baking or smoking.

Our family did turducken for the first time last year. I think it's a new tradition because we're doing it again this year. We just do the traditional bake and baste method with either an Italian meat or traditional stuffing. The gravy is made out of what's left in the pan right after it's taken out of the oven for carving. Some people say that turkey is too dry, but in my experience that hasn't been the case.

But I'm with Segagendude. I've never cooked on the big day. I just show up with the good beer and a bottle of wine.

My aunt and uncle do Thanksgiving every year. They always do it in the oven, and it's always fantastic. I hate dry turkey, to the point where I won't even really eat it if it's dry.

Moist turkey and stuffing/potatoes made from scratch. *Homer drool* Damn, I'm already pumped for Thanksgiving.

I appreciate a good slow cooked smoked turkey, but I LOVE the slices of turkey from the Honeybaked Ham Company.

Fried. Baked or smoked is just...no. And it's worse when people try to add stuffing or gravy in it. UGH.

Fry it, cut it and serve, and get back to football.

Buy a few packs of these, throw them on a platter and call it a day.

I've never cooked one, but have always eaten ones that have been baked. Also get a little smoked turkey breast from a BBQ restaurant near the house to go along with it.

As for the dry debate - I don't give a ****. I put so much ****ing gravy on my Thanksgiving day plates that I couldn't even tell you what plain turkey tastes like.

Grew up with my mother and aunts using the bake and baste method. Put some butter along with the herbs under the skin helps keep the meat moist. I've since adopted the same method the couple times cooking a turkey.

Not the healthiest preparation, but screw it. Only once or twice a year I have turkey.
