How easy is it to install carpet?

We got to replace carpet in our room and I was wondering how easy is it to do and how much does it usually run to get instalkation?

Installation is not much when compared to the cost of the carpet. I would have it done professionally.

You should be able to get it for free or up to like $99 for the whole house ... it isn't "hard" to install, but main issue you would have is stretching it out. That takes special tools and if you don't get it tight, your carpet will move and not stay down.

Installing carpet is one of the worst pains in the *** when remodeling or updating your home. I will always have it professionally done and you can normally get it done for relatively cheap.

Yea removal anyone can do and its pretty simple and straight forward.

Installation leave that to the professionals so its done right and you are not screwing up new carpet.

Some carpet needs to be stretched before you lay it. I saw the results of a buddy who just tried to lay the carpet off the rack to save a few bucks. Not good.

Yeah...it's usually more worth it to get experts.

The only way I'd lay carpet (or hardwood/laminate type floors) was if I had a friend who was an expert and did it for a living. I'd help someone who knew what they were doing.

I've learned that while I can do handyman stuff, I don't do serious stuff because it's way too easy to screw it up with my limited knowledge.

Hardwood, sure, because that takes someone with skills, but any one can lay laminate.
