I turned the $250 my dad gave me, $80 from 2 PS4 game trade ins, as well as some of my own $$ into the new 16GB iPad Mini with retina display.

So what did you get?

I got a 1975 Cincinnati Reds commemorative Pepsi-cola bottle with season & playoff results engraved/painted on the bottle from my future father-in-law. Said he found it at some crazy flea market, he's from Ohio himself and thought I'd love it as a long-distance fan of Cincy.

Probably one of the coolest non-functional presents I've ever gotten. I bet it's got some value to it being nearly 40 years old. Not that I'm going to sell it, but I'm sure it's pretty rare. Sick gift.

Ended up with some clothes, couple gift cards, some neat stocking stuffers, and some stuff for the apartment.

It was a nice surprise to get so much. I really hadn't even thought about getting anything for Christmas, so now that I have some stuff I need and other stuff, it was just cool to realize.

No one really got any techy gifts from what I saw. Only thing was a Nook. Heck, I don't even WANT any new games or the new consoles. I have a hard enough time getting in a couple of games of NHL a week, I wouldn't know what to do with a brand new PS4 or something. I'm a pretty simple guy I think, and most all my gifts were practical.

It was a nice Christmas. As usual, it went by too quickly and I'm back at work this morning in full grinch mode.

Dirty Turtles, man your post really touched me. We all need the right perspective when it comes to our basic health and necessities of life (good, shelter and water).

Consumerism in America has people losing their minds, but if we can humble ourselves and just be thankful for what we do have, we'd all be better off!

EDIT: Absolutely nothing wrong with receiving gifts at all. I'm just talking about the complainers and people that have to have it all or they aren't happy.

Yup as a young teenager I was never happy with my Xmas haul, besides from my parents who usually treat me well cause well I guess they feel like they must.

Then I realized "it's the thought that counts" is well more then a Xmas cliche and anything I get is better then nothing.
