Re: Off Topic 2014
I know exactly where you're at. I'm in a similar spot, with a few key differences.
The only answer is school. Trust me, I've put it off and put it off, living paycheck to paycheck. I've been able to move up at my work, thankfully I stumbled into working for a good company. I also work in receiving, and I like it but I know a physical labor job isn't the long term answer for me. I have these dreams of a family, a house, kids, pets. That's why I know I need an education to break in to the field I want to get in to (IT security).
I can get by with what I'm doing. But I don't want to just get by. If my car breaks down, if there's a health scare, basically anything catastrophic happens and I'm screwed.
So I'm looking into taking online courses through a reputable university. I've done the community college thing for a semester or two but it was like going back to elementary school. I tested out of a lot but still had to take these basic English courses where they basically decide if you have half a brain or not. Never. Again. Having to take out a loan will suck, I've avoided debt at all costs but it's pretty much necessary to go to school. I worked from sun up past sun down for a little over a year, so now that I work a steady 40 hours over 5 days, I know I can knock out tons of coursework on my days off or even in the evening when I get home. I've learned that the hard work will pay off if you honestly work your *** off.
I'm only 2 years older then you, but my advice is start now! Some of my life plans may be put on hold for a year or two longer because I waited this long to really see the big picture. Maybe that's what it took to truly come to this conclusion. I never doubted I'd find what I needed to do, I've taken my own path to get here and I don't regret it.
You'll find yours too. Figure out what you deep down inside want to do for your career, then go get it. If it takes a couple more years working at Wal-Mart, so be it. Ive coasted a bit myself since I've gotten my promotion. But don't give up that dream even if you catch a break. We all want the finer things in life. Being young in a vast world is scary as ****, you've got most of the pressures of being a real adult, but none of the comfort zone of having a bank account that isn't constantly drained or the cushion of being too young to take care of your responsibilities. Somewhere along the line you either decide to swim or sink. There's a certain fire you have inside that says, "I want more out of this life," or it doesn't. Obviously, you have that desire to make better for yourself and I encourage you to go make it happen.
For real man, I know the same pressures you're going through. You certainly ain't alone in this. I love to see other people achieve because I've made steps the past few years and the feeling is tremendous but there's mad work to be done to get to the stars, if you know what I mean.
Hope you find what you're looking for. No one can do this but you!NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

We're supposed to dance to Ice Ice Baby tomorrow night.
Like, the actual dance he does in the video.
As if Get Lucky wasn't hard enough. I think I'll sit this one out.

So, my Note 3 won't stay on for more than 20 seconds without freezing. **** me.--

The excitement on my daughters eyes to see Mickey Mouse today was one of the greatest things I've ever seen. It melted my heart and I balled up a little. Today was a good day.Comment
