Re: Off Topic 2014
Not just that, but also clapping and everything for such horrible answers. Even Steve Harvey called people out for it. Someone gives a stupid answer, family claps, and then he's like "Don't you clap for that! You know it's wrong!".
Another part I hate about the families is when people basically have to act out their answers. It's Family Feud, not charades. Just say your answer and move on,don't spend 30 seconds acting out the answer you're giving(and inbetween that, giving your life story/soaking up the 15 minutes of fame).
For me, I'd rank it #1. Big part probably just cause it was one of the first "real shows"(meaning non cartoons or anything) that I ever watched, and watched it on ABCs TGIF all the time. But overall, the show itself had so much awesome stuff you don't see in TV shows ever since. So much reality/truth to the show itself with the life lessons, but also had so many comedic moments too. A show that could be enjoyed by kids and adults. Feeny is still my fave teacher on any tv show ever. I actually remember Feeny lessons more than my own teachers.Comment

One I loved growing up that you didn't mention was Family Ties, absolutely loved that show growing up. Lots of solid shows in your list though.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2014
I get to give a speech today about how 3 stats(Yards per play on offense/defense, and pass yards allowed per attempt) can help you pick a winner more accurately. If you look at each stat in the last decade, they each had 8 of the 10 champions in the top 10. If you look at them collectively, the champion was always at least in the top 10 of one every single year with it being I think 7 times they were in the top 10 every time for all 3.
It's also a good indicator of a team on the rise. FSU's yards/play rose each year leading up to their current status now. They lead the nation in it last year on both sides of the ball. Right now they are far far far from doing that right now which makes it seem like they may not survive the first round of the playoffs.
Anyways, I doubt anyone in the room is going to care one bit about what I have to say besides myself. I guess that could be the case for a lot of speeches though.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: Off Topic 2014
Okay, so Sitcom Bracket stuff:
Brackets based on Genres: Cartoon, Workplace, Family Units, Friendships. I figure all the government ones (VEEP, Parks & Rec, Night Court, etc) will fall under the Work Place category.
I'm going to do a Nomination thread this week.
There's some things I would like feedback on:
For Nominations I was thinking of limiting it to 10. Is that too high? Or should there be a limit at all?
How many should be in each "Region?" Depending on how the the nomination thread goes I was going to have an initial run off round for the shows with the lowest # of votes. I'm thinking a total of 32 shows (8 in each Region) or 64 (so 16 in each).
Also, some of these shows you guys are dropping aren't sitcoms. As much as I love Wonder Years I wouldn't put it in the sitcom camp.
Thoughts?

Re: Off Topic 2014
Everything sounds good but I'm iffy on cartoons. Are there enough to fill a bracket? And I'm talking about quality ones

Re: Off Topic 2014
A pre 80s bracket would be tough competition and would stand a better chance than putting them up against newer shows.

Whoever gave the shout out to A Differ World, yes! I showed early episodes of this last year in my senior class.

Re: Off Topic 2014
Well, there's Bob's Burgers, Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy, American Dad, Cleveland Show, South Park, King of the Hill, Beavis & Butthead, and if you want to go for good measure, Pinky & the Brain/Animaniacs, Muppet Babies, Tiny Toons, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and so on and on. I think cartoons would be well covered, though, I don't see too many contenders going deep.

Re: Off Topic 2014
Enough talk...Will be we having actual brackets/tourney? A subsection like I mentioned earlier in the Entertainment forum would be a good place to do it. I'd be willing to help out in this stuff.
We could start up the subsection, determine the categories, then people start submitting nominations in the thread, and eventually we come up with the polls/brackets and stuff.Comment
