Re: Off Topic 2014
I've spent 300+ including last weekend's trip up to Fukuoka. I told these dudes in my room, "I know I'm not much older, but I've held down jobs and had real life bills and problems.. save your money from time to time and you'll thank yourself for it later".
Don't get me wrong, I love the bars here and have a good relationship with some of the bartenders all ready, but sometimes I just want to play PS4 or watch a movie and they can't wrap their head around that. They act like they are pulling girls or something.. It's hard around here... you have to travel to Fukuoka pretty much. It's too Americanized around here and the Japanese girls are used to it.
Going out to the club every weekend gets expensive as ****, especially when I can buy a half gallon of Captain Morgan for 25$
Definitely know the feeling having been based in Hawaii. The local girls are used to the military dudes so we were nothing special to them. The trick was to go to the bars at the resorts and talk with the tourists. My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

Re: Off Topic 2014
lol, it's crazy how uneducated some people are about other cultures/the world in general. I actually heard someone at work yesterday (who wasn't born in Canada and was fairly new to the country) flat out say to someone they were talking to "If you weren't born in ___,then how come you look like people from there?".
And right before that, they were asking that person so many questions about the country they thought that person was from, and a number of stereotypical like questions about the culture/race too.
I get they weren't trying to be mean/racist in the slightest, but it's sad to see how uneducated people born in certain parts of the world are about people from other parts of the world, seeing someone from a certain race for the first time in their life(or at the very least, first time they've seen someone from that race, who wasn't born in a certain country) and being in complete shock about what to say/do around them.
Maybe it's just cause I'm from Toronto and I've been used to being around people from so many different countries for my whole life that something like culture shock isn't something that's ever happened to me or really anyone I knew, but just seems strange.Comment

Just hop on your moose and ride back to your igloo... I'm sure that'll calm you right back down.

Re: Off Topic 2014
In other news, Shutdown Corner had this really cool article on the Madden 96 cover. Really refreshing to read that after all the circus with fan voting, live reveals, etc., etc. that they have now.
As Cam Newton tries to get on the "Madden" cover, WCNC in Charlotte did a fantastic feature trying to find the no-name Panthers player who randomly ended up on the "Madden 96" cover, in an action shot alongside a photo of Madden. They tracked down the player, and it was Cary Brabham ... who never played a regular-season game for the Panthers.MLB: Minnesota Twins
