Not really sure I see him getting much praise anywhere right now.

People want to talk about him, I get it your annoyed, but it's not going away.

And what other guys are you talking about? If your premise is media coverage should be based on success on the course then I think your understanding of success rate is a little low.

Rory, won today after having two of the worst rounds of his life and getting cut in his last couple tournaments.

Bubba Watson, a young up and comer got cut this weekend.

I think you are overestimating how difficult golf is and your expectations is probably based on when Tiger was at his best he was in EVERY weekend. That is NOT normal at all.

Well, the Favre garbage finally went away, but I somewhat understand the LeBron coverage. I don't necessarily agree with it, but I understand it. He's the best player in the World right now.

Every golf fan should be Tiger fans, he elevated the game to where it is now. Golf is still a national sport with lots of fans, without Tiger you would probably be watching the Masters on The Golf Network.

Like him or hate him, you have to praise him for making the sport relevant to the national media.

While all that is likely true, it's still annoying to hear "is Tiger back!?!" every time he has a good round.

There is a major fallacy in this statement. Long before Tiger the Masters was on network television. The PGA was a national brand however I do agree with the overall premise that Tiger DID elevate it to the point that it's at a higher profile than it use dto be. That being said, if there was no Tiger Woods the PGA would be fine. It'd be a lot more niche like NASCAR before the turn of the century but there'd be some stars. Guys like David Duval, Vijay Singh, Phil Mickelson etc etc would've had a bigger profile than they did when Tiger was killing everybody to be sure.

What Tiger did was push the PGA into the mainstream when he was at his height and now that his star has fallen the brand has dropped in stature but is still in the mainstream. It's not quite down to the level it was in the late '80s/early '90s and I don't think it'll ever go back to that level.

All that being said, I think the Tiger Woods Era has ended a long time ago. He's in late middle age as far as golfers go, with back issues and he's never played a full tour schedule. I can't envision him being dominant again. He MIGHT win one more major but IMO I don't think he will. The main question is will Tiger continue to golf when he's eligible for the Legends Tour and will he have an impact on that brand? it'll be interesting to see but that's a ways away. (12 years or so)

Bowling used to be on ESPN and network TV regularly, a few decades ago the two sports were about the same in popularity.

Damn, just saw that the girl who played Mel Gibson's youngest daughter in The Patriot died yesterday, apparently of an epileptic seizure.

                                21 years old. RIP.
