Re: Off Topic 2014
This should be my second Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years in a row away from home.
I would like to take leave and go home for a few weeks, but I don't know if It will be possible. I'm more than willing to drop cash on the flight right now.
Good times.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2014
So tired.........
Taking a break from moving everything down to the basement. (I need help moving my PC and assorted other electronics) but yeah, moving things 3 flights of stairs is a little draining. I should be all set by the end of the night though.
One positive? I found a couple DVDs and CDs that I thought I lost!Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Off Topic 2014
Does anyone else spend too much time tinkering with their TV settings? I will think I'll have them set for a week, then change them. After a week I will go back and on and on. Right now I have actually stuck with my TV settings for a bit. Though the TV I use for my PC is constantly changing. I can never find the perfect setup that has true darks, but not too dark, and is bright at the same time.
Maybe the quality of TV is the difference. This TV I am using as a monitor is a 40'' Westinghouse. The TV is a 50 something inch Samsung plasma with an assortment of settings. That seems most likely as to why I have kept it the same, but keep changing this one that has as little to change as possible.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

It's public knowledge so..
We're going to Okinawa today. Should be a few days trip and the weather around Japan is nasty right now. Just had my divo walk up and say, " I hope you took your Dramamine.. We are expecting 9 foot waves.

- the Sun is the size of a small grapefruit (4 inches diameter)
- Earth is the size of a pinhead 40 feet away
- Pluto is the size of a flyspeck 1500 feet away
- the nearest star (Proxima Centauri) is the size of a blueberry 1900 miles away (the approximate distance between LA and Chicago)
- the diameter of the Milky Way is 48 million miles (the approximate current distance between Earth and Mars)

Using the scale of that link (1 million km = 3 inches):
- the Sun is the size of a small grapefruit (4 inches diameter)
- Earth is the size of a pinhead 40 feet away
- Pluto is the size of a flyspeck 1500 feet away
- the nearest star (Proxima Centauri) is the size of a blueberry 1900 miles away (the approximate distance between LA and Chicago)

Plus you have to add in the millions of galaxies and the space between those (which is way bigger than the milky way).Comment

Re: Off Topic 2014
So my girlfriend has me incredibly pissed right now, every time I go out of town for work something terrible happens that makes me feel horrible. This week my dog rolled on something smelly so she called my crying and I have been working the phone and calling in favors for someone to take in my dog until Friday.
I swear when this girl faces any adversity she crumbles.

Re: Off Topic 2014
Well i'm finally settled into the basement....mostly. Gotta get a splitter tomorrow to run my router through so I can watch TV otherwise everything is good to go. It's nice to have complete privacy now and in a much bigger space as well. I'm more or less a quick run up the stairs away from the kitchen and a washroom as wellMember of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
