    Re: 2014 FITNESS CHALLENGE

When I used to squat heavy I felt lightheaded when I racked as well.

But seriously man I'm not small (6-3 235...used to be a much better 215) and I was only squatting like 285-305 for reps.

    3 sets of 15 @ 315? Like legit 90 degree squats?

Vid or it didn't happen brah lol

Hit a snag over my birthday weekend. It was a planned cheat so no biggie. Scarfed down 3/4 of a birthday cake and an entire carton of chocolate cookie and cream ice cream (Nobel Prize worthy invention btw). There was also a bag of nacho cheese Doritos mixed in there as well. There is some guilt, massive water retention is through the roof, and I skipped my morning workout this am, but oh well. If you're gonna binge than do it big. Currently bulking so I'll use that excuse for the amount of junk consumed. Haha

Back to eating clean and drinking a **** load of water today though.

            WebMD says I'm dying.
I used to get really light-headed when I was taking a pre-workout supplement. I would have to eat something like a cliff bar during my workout to fight it off. If I lift heavy on dead-lifts I'll get light-headed after I do the last rep and sit the weight down. I think that's just from the heavy exertion though.

2 sets. I'm like 5'9 195 and always had a stronger lower body than upper. Squat had always been my best lift. I have a wider base when I squat than a lot of folks but I get down 90 degrees.

Edit: Let me clarify one thing, I lift by myself so I use a Smith machine (which I hate but it's safer) so it's not a true 315. Gotta up the weight because Smith squat is easy.

Anybody use racquetball for cardio? This girl in my department wants me to play with her on Tuesday. I usually swim, but racquetball seems like something that would hold my attention for a while.

I had never played until I got to Japan and it's surprisingly fun and challenging.

I do that and hit the bags a lot now. Bikes, elliptical, etc. have become so boring to me.

I say you should try it.

I'd like to try swimming for Cardio, but unfortunately it's Fall/Winter and none of the gyms in my area are advanced/spacious enough to have an indoor Pool.

Anyone experienced with battle ropes? Thinking about picking one up. I guess it's a brutal upper body HIIT workout.

Yes. Deceptively tough, they will have your shoulders and arms on fire the first time you use them. Where would you set them up? Garage?

Probably outside, wrapped around a tree. That is if they are durable enough.

                          No garage unfortunately.

                            Passed my weigh ins/BCA today.

I know it's not much to some people. but being 74 inches tall only allows me 211 pounds and my muscle/body structure won't allow me to pass tape.

I weighed 210 and was extremely excited about it. I've dropped a decent amount in just a few weeks and I'm really proud of myself.

I haven't followed a super strict diet, but I've refused myself sodas, declined invites to go out drinking, and passed on fast food a lot.

I'm just going to keep dropping too. Looking to get down near 200 before the next weigh ins in 6 months. Lowest I've been since 9th grade was 205.

I'm a firm believer that genetics play a huge role in someone's body, especially as you get older. Yeah, you can fight through it and beat it, but most people on my dad's side of the family are pretty decent sized people. It's hard as **** for me to shed weight.. It's always a battle. I weighed 226 when I first joined the Navy and dropped down to 205 at one point so I know I can get wherever I want to go.
