Go for it!!! It will be worth it and it's a good investment better than the interest in a savings account.

Came out nice man, I have a question though.

In the picture where the room is concrete and studs, far right side wall, is that windows, doors, or both letting light in? I know closest one to picture is a door but is the other a large window? Reason I ask in the finished photos, I see a heavy black curtain over what appears to be the door, then further up near Princess Leia there was a area letting light in but that appears to be framed and closed in, why not do both?

No need to frame in the door leading to the outside, but going with a solid wood door, painting inside same color as walls would help with light, while not having to deal with a curtain.

Another option to go with if the door is not used often, get a complete wood door, then frame inside of door to match a bookcase, get some hidden door hinges, thus creating a "hidden door" effect. From inside room it would look like a bookcase to store your movies and such. Then from exterior a door.

Just was wondering,................. I am jealous though

On that wall there are 2 windows and a door between them. The door leads to a small deck that eventually I would like to expand and put a whirlpool Jacuzzi. For some reason I never thought about changing the door until they were finished with the room. I have a friend that is going to put in a solid door soon so that light problem should be solved. I do have another door that you can't see that is by the stairway that leads to the area under the house that I may change and do the bookcase door you were showing, thanks for that idea.

I actually wanted to get rid of both windows, but you have to have 2 ways to exit a room so that wouldn't have passed the inspection. I thought about getting rid of the one where the screen is, but if I ever sold the house it would sell better with 2 windows. I bought some expensive soundproof foam to make the window plug and I am not real happy with the results, it's supposed to keep out 80% of the sound and I really couldn't tell much difference, so lesson learned.

I was trying to come up with some ideas for the window plug and thought that I would put a picture frame around the outside and then put in different fatheads ever so often. The problem was that when I was watching a movie Princess Leia started reflecting the light and was distracting so I'm going to put some heavy curtains over the plug which should help absorb some of the high frequencies since my furniture is mostly leather.

Ahh....That all makes sense now. I was envisioning a basement exterior door that is hardly used.
