Nice areas to live/work in Georgia?

Just wondering if anyone in the OS Community has or had experience living/working somewhere in area I have on the map in Georgia. We're not wanting to live in the city of Atlanta, though.

If you're into college towns, there's no better place than Athens. I absolutely love that town.

Where are you going to work? I live south of Cumming and it is a great area. If you are commuting into the city though, that would be terrible everyday. That area has everything, so you only have to go into the city if you want to.

Just looking at a job possibility. It's in Cumming, so that's good to know. It's looks like it's in the area a bit NE of Sawnee Preserve.

Cumming has really grown the last few years. It isn't on the edge of population anymore. There are still areas that are less populated, but it is growing and filling in as people moved there to get away from the city. Traffic can be a problem, but that is pretty much everywhere. Housing is affordable there. I looked at the area when I moved to Atlanta, it was just too far for me from the city.

Gainesville is much more country. Its got a lot of outdoor stuff you can do, but you would lose the stuff you get in a bigger city. If you like smaller city life, go there.

I was almost rolled outside a Waffle House (by a group of guys whose kingpin looked like a larger version of Billy Ray Cyrus during the mullet years) in Macon Georgia years ago as I passed through on the way to Florida.

Probably wouldn't look to relocate there.


Savannah was real nice though when I visited while some Work in Charleston.

I live right outside of Athens, GA in Oconee County. Some of the best schools in the state, we absolutely love it here. It's growing pretty quick but if you can't get it here in Oconee, I'm only 5-10 minutes away from Athens.

I'm 40 minutes or so from Atlanta, so going to Falcons/Braves games and concerts isn't too bad either.
