Has anyone ever had their pet stuffed? Or do you do this with any other animals, like is anyone here a big hunter or anything like that and they have "alive" looking animals in their house?

Stuffing your pets (taxidermy)
Do people do this anymore? Doesn't that seem a bit strange, almost like "trying to keep it alive" but in an eerie way? Is this a proper sendoff for a pet in general, or is burial/cremation much more "appropriate" in general?

Re: Stuffing your pets (taxidermy)
It is pretty big up here far as stuffing wild game, but then again this is a big hunting population up here. For a pet, I personally wouldn't want to do it. I would just take it the vet and say dispose of it. Don't want to know how, but just do it.
Seeing my dog stuffed would just freak me out. I don't even like having people ashes in my house. Needless to say when my wife and I started living together, I said what is in that box next to the bed. Oh it is my dad's ashes, want to see ? Umm no......how about we put that box wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy over there on the opposite side of the room, in the corner. -

Yeah, like GMSS said, that would be kinda weird and would probably freak a lot of people out. People treat pets like their kids so it would almost be like ... well, I'm not gonna finish that thought as you can see where I'm going. My mom had 2 dogs and a cat cremated and their ashes sit in tins on a window sill along with their collars.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Re: Stuffing your pets (taxidermy)
Stuffing them seems a little weird. I think it's weird even with deer and other animals though. When our first longtime family dog died we had him cremated and the ashes sit on a shelf in our computer room. Didn't want to bury him since they'll move eventually and didn't want the vet just putting him in the trash pick up.Comment

Re: Stuffing your pets (taxidermy)
I could never have a pet stuffed. My parents have the ashes of all our family pets in urns which I think is weird also. I rather just have the photo memories to remember them by.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: Stuffing your pets (taxidermy)
Oh they not mine, just used as example since this is what we see a lot down here in louisiana. I have never pulled the trigger on mounting one even after killing my fair share. Primarily from a money stand point they run around $200 to $250 depending on work being done.
Now with that said, I set some money a side and told the wife I'm going to mount the drakes of each species I kill this year.Comment

Re: Stuffing your pets (taxidermy)
I'm not a hunter but I understand mounting something like that...
I'd never get my pet stuffed though, way too creepy/sad.
My wife jokes that she wants to be stuffed into a pose where she's giving people hugs so she can give hugs forever (she loves hugs lol).Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

I've got the first Mallard I ever killed stuffed and wild game is the only thing I would do. No way I could do that with our house pet. Too creepy!Texas Rangers/Saints/LSU/Tottenham Hotspur
