    Seating situation at ball game

    Hi Guys,

I would like your opinions on this if you fellas could spare a second.

Couple weeks ago I had tickets to the ball game in Toronto. Great seats in fact, row 1 down the 3rd base lines. I have never had row 1 seats for anything so the wife and I were pumped. We decide to go early to watch BP and maybe snag a ball if we could. We get there and there was a guy and his kids standing in front of the seats. I was cool with that it was BP and not the actual game. The little guy was able to catch a ball too so that was good. So BP ends and the guy and his son go to their seats a dozen or so rows back. As they grounds crew were getting the field ready before the game we went and grabbed something to drink and went back to or seats.

We get back there and there are two guys sitting there. I said hey fellas you are in our seats. The one guy already is telling his friend that there not moving. I again try to tell them hey guys, I don't care where you sit but my wife and I want to sit in the seats that we paid for. Again, hes not moving. So I was starting to get steamed up but not trying to let on. Just wanted to keep calm and not make a scene. So the one guy just says flat out again, Im not moving. So that does it, I have to go and get somebody that works at the stadium and they come down and check out the a-holes seats. They are of course 500 level and $12 tickets. The guy as he was walking back said something about waiting for me after the game. Im above getting into fights about seats.

Have any of you guys come across a situation like this? how did you handle it? It has happen alot to me but every time up to then it has been just a error on my end or the other peoples, just getting mixed up. It wasn't until this time that I met somebody so defiant about moving and wanting to take it further and acting like a goof. Those guys knew what they were doing, buying cheap and trying to sit in better seats. I know it happens all the time, if the guys were to have just said sorry and move back two rows to where it was empty they probably could have sat in the expensive seats for cheap.

I bring it up know because a buddy of mine said it happen to him a couple weeks ago too, I wonder if it was the same guys, lol

    Hope to hear your take

I've never had seats like that at a professional game, but when I've seen those things happen, it's usually some kind of mistake, or the people that have to move play it off as if they didn't know those weren't their seats. I've never seen someone flat out refuse to move. It would take everything in me to not flip out on someone who tried that with me.

You handled it extremely well, and much better than I probably would have.

Never happened at a sporting event, but happened when I went to some government office, and people were waiting outside and when the door opened everyone rushed inside, so did I. So, they guy, who was actually right next to me or ahead of me, got pushed by someone back in line. Not my fault.

But he was a HUGE guy, probably could have made me his hand puppet if wanted, but I didn't let him pass, since the line changed when they opened the doors. He did try to scare me (he succeeded) but I still didn't let him pass. It wasn't my fault that he got pushed by someone.

Anyway, in you case - way to go. The less 'physical action' the better. These are the times I wish I was Clark Kent, look extremely nerdy (like I do), but just try him......

You handled it in the appropriate manner or should I say how "Real Men/Adults" handle awkward situations. Kudos!!!

Did the right thing and I would of handled in the same manner. Dude wants to sit there then pay for them and support the team.

I agree! I've never had it happen at a pro event though....usually the ushers at those games (especially for close seats) are pretty strict....

The only time I have ever sat in the 1st row on the field at a baseball game were 2 Rays games at Tropicana Field last September. I had 1st row seats for both games and both games the on field security asked to see our stubs after batting practice ended to make sure they were our actual seats. I would assume most teams do this as well.

You handled that well man. I have never had a similar situation so I haven't been tested like that.
