    Video Game Consoles in Hotels

I'm just wondering if any of you guys have been successful plugging you're consoles in hotel televisions because I was thinking about trying when I go on a trip in a week.

When I traveled for business I always took my PS3 with me. I rarely had trouble hooking it up. Getting a strong enough signal to play online was another matter entirely though. Some hotels just had really sucky WIFI.

I've traveled with my PS3 quite a bit, in the past, including to Europe. I haven't had any issues getting it to work. Do keep in mind that some hotel TVs have the aux/secondary inputs locked out, but there are simple processes (remote code or button presses) to unlock them. A simple Google search of the model will help you out there. Good luck and safe travels.

Most hotels have HDMI ports available in the US. So as long as you aren't staying in an old or cheap hotel, you should be fine.

Works for me. I was a couple of hours away when I first bought Backbreaker and I was playing it in a hotel. Graphics looked like crap there with them LCD default picture settings, but it was serviceable.

Lately I've just been bringing my Vita, though.

Most hotels know people want to connect laptops and stuff to the tv, so they tend to not lock it out like in the past. I've done it before and it's worked, just with my iPad. Haven't brought a console on a trip yet.

I went on a trip last year with my dad, took my PS3 because most of the time we are just sitting around for 3 days waiting to here from DR's on his test results. Hotel we stayed at was still using old tube TV's and this was a nice place but they just hadn't updated their TV's and no WiFi. I was pissed to say the least, the year before the hotel had LCD's in the bedroom and kitchen/living room areas.

Recently, for a wedding, I tried hooking up my PS4 to the hotel TV. But there was no way to get the TV menu to go to HDMI 1 or HDMI 2. It was stuck on the hotel programming.

It was a Mariott. So I dunno if that matters.

Times like these you need to bring a Harmony universal remote with you.

Were there no buttons on the tv? I know most hotels use those remotes that will pretty much just change the channel and volume up or down.

Haha. I wish I had known about that beforehand.

We were in there for two hours eating pizza while I described what certain things looked like in 2K14 on PS4...since I couldn't show them. Making a note of that remote right now.

Yeah. Even the physical buttons on the TV seemed to be disabled. And the hotel remote only allowed for the Guide button, Power, and channel/volume/mute to work.

Or call the front desk and the explain the situation. I had problems finding the right input on a tv at one place (a Marriott too coincidentally) and they had their engineer/maintenance dude come by and give me a regular remote.
