My father was found by his brother Tuesday evening unresponsive. After a few tests they discovered he has 3 massive strokes that affected his brain and left him with minimal brain activity. Apparently he must have been having multiple smaller strokes recently because they said his brain looked like Swiss cheese.
They weren't very optimistic on Wednesday but want to try a medication to reduce the swelling on the brain, but the medication didn't help at all. The doctor said he didn't think my dad would survive surgery, but doctor said for some reason he did get through the surgery he wouldn't have any quality of life and would need care 24/7.
So they called in Hospice on Thursday morning to make him comfortable. Friday Koenig they have him 48 hours max and it was only 9 hours before he took his final breath.
I have a lot of emotions right now. Sadness for him, anger because he wasn't a very good father and didn't make much of an effort and regret because I just stopped trying to make t work. I know I can't beat myself over it because deep down I know I really tried.
Just felt like sharing with the OS family.
