I don't think my father has ever kissed me anywhere in my lifetime, unless it was when I was an infant. He pretty much stuck with hugs.

My wife and I are battling about this issue now. She doesn't like me lying down to tell my daughter goodnight and to say our prayers, while I think it's gross that she and her son kiss each other on the lips multiple times at once. Blended families are so much fun!

Wait, she doesn't like for you to lay with your daughter? I could understand people thinking kissing a child on the lips as weird, but laying with your child at night, to say prayers, talk about their day, get them ready for bed or just to snuggle with them, I don't see anything wrong with that at all.

I have three sons (4, 2, and eight months old) and kiss them on the lips all the time. I don't understand how anyone could think this is weird or odd. Then again, I'm a very affectionate guy and love my boys so much that I think my heart could explode at times, and I don't care what anyone thinks about it.

I agree. I kiss my daughter on the lips and on the cheek.

People shouldn't find it weird unless the kid was a teenager.

A simple peck on the lips is very innocent.

I think the follow up question is at what age will that stop? I mean when they are 18, 16 and 15, will you still be kissing them on the lips? I think at the younger ages no one is really questioning this. But look at the original question.

He'll stop whenever they want him to stop.

My kids. both boys. are 2 and 3. My wife kisses them on the lips so they think it's natural. I usually go for the nose, forehead or cheek. I don't think it's ever inappropriate as long as its consensual ie your kid no longer likes it but you do it anyway. It could cause some resentment.

I'd say his stance is fairly obvious by his comment.

If I thought it was fairly obvious then I wouldn't have asked him.
