    OS Man Cave Brainstorm Thread

Well I didn't see a thread for this so figured I'd get it started. Consider this a man Pinterest thread.

Me and my father are planning to remodel his basement into a man cave this winter and we are trying to find cool items/ideas to complete the remodel. Figured this could be helpful to anyone (not just us) looking for cool custom items such as tables, bars, chairs, lighting etc to fill up a man cave.

If you can post a purchase link as well, do it, and I'll keep it categorized here.

For instance, my dad and I love playing darts. We found this cool reclaimed barrel head dart board that we are going to purchase.

    You can buy it here.

    Let the dreaming begin!

Any sports teams items being put in it? My entire finished basement is a Philadelphia Phillies man cave. Sports memorabilia is probably a good place to start after furniture.

We're still in the planning stages, other than the dart board obviously. We do have tons of Cubs sports memorabilia, but we would like to keep a uniform theme throughout the room. Leaning towards sort of an old pub feel.

What are the dimensions of the room and budget you are working with? Also picking out a theme helps so you can get the right stuff in there.

Here are few things I've thought of

        -Fridge or 50's/60's coke machine
-Poker Table (probably have a spot light over it but keep it dark around the edge)
-Mame arcade machine (Have two sticks of course and if you can build a rotary ball in the middle for golf and bowling games)
-Pool Table that can also be used as a beer pong table.
-Space for memorabilia, fill up walls with jerseys or whatever art you like.
-Definitely darts, you can also get a marker board up there for score and just frame it in wood the same stain as the dart board you got.
-Bar where you can put a keg and have a draft dispenser

I also want to create as much space as I can so you have to mount the tv(s) build in a enclosure in the wall for all the satellite boxes, bluray player, receiver, consoles. Get a harmony remote that will also alter lighting in the room to whatever setting you want.

I always wanted to do theater style seating, the higher platform you can put poker/pool/table one set of chairs, 2nd layer of seating or have bean bags. Have chairs with drink holder.

Sometimes you gotta put your foot down & let the little woman know the whole house is the mancave.

Dude that is so awesome. This makes want to build one now haha

Mike, to answer your question, we are working with roughly 900-1000 square feet (I don't have the exact dimensions in front of me) and are definitely looking at all options to maximize space. Mounting TVs/audio equipment are a definite must.

We'd love a bar, but don't know if it's practical. We are actually looking at some smaller wet bars that will sort of achieve the same goal.

Lighting wise, we already have track lighting installed, but would love to do some colored LED accents as well.

I think I could probably justify buying just about everything cool I see online haha

That's one of those things that looks so badass, but then you end up using it twice a year tops and it ends up just being a thing you stack stuff on.

Much has already been said. I'd make sure to have both a HDTV and projector (either a manual pull down or electric screen). HDTV for regular tv watching...PJ for having people over for the game, movie, etc.

If you're a big NFL or NBA fan, having multiple tv's so you don't have to switch between games. Obviously, each tv would need its own source (cable, satellite, or OTA). HDTVs are cheap enough that this is an affordable option now.

Last, gotta have a Harmony remote to control it all.

Ohhhh no--I wish. That's a stock photo. I'm house hunting as we speak. lol

I do have my AV stuff (3D HDTV, 3D Projector, Receiver, Speakers, Sub) already purchased. Just need a house to put it in.

Or, instead of dropping all that money and hassle, just hook an HDMI up to a computer. ESPN, FOX, NBC, and sometimes CBS offer free streaming services provided you have a login.
