What a hard day... waking up seeing people gunned down on my local news channel. Never thought I would say that....

Gun violence hits an extremely sensitive spot for me and brings me back to a dark, dark place. I can't begin to fathom the grief those families must feel.

I can't relate to this... Why would a human being want to take another's life? How many must die before enough is enough?

RIP Adam and Alison.

My freakin local news station just played the video he took on the news.

What were they thinking?

What station was that? WTAE showed up to where you hear the 1st gunshot from the cameraman's video, not the shooters on the 11:00 news. Wasn't the lead story though as a triple shooting in a local neighborhood superseded it (sounds like all 3 victims will be ok).

Also they said one of the newest WTAE reporters worked at that station until a week or so ago and was best friends with the photographer and the 2 had been golfing together just last week.

Well, I read excerpts from his manifesto. Turns out he's not crazy, just a very angry person who wanted to take his life frustrations out on a couple of people for everything that has gone wrong for him.

Not like I'm excusing it, just saying he was crystal clear about everything going on and his intentions, rather than some chemical imbalance.

Still wish he could have gotten help for this... not so much for his sake, but because of Alison and Adam.

Oh, not necessarily here... but any YouTube or article comments all have people saying that. After all, most shootings appear to be that way.

Though this was not a random set of people who were shot, so I guess that's different.

I'm no doctor, but I am not sure you can identify the presence of chemical imbalances by how well someone writes their manifesto.

I just read an article about how this guy applied for a job at one of the Huntsville stations, but he never made it through the pre-interview process because former employers said he was difficult to work with and even got in a fight at a company Christmas party! In his mind, I'm sure he thought he was the victim, what a loser.

I had read that earlier from the WAFF FB page. Seems this guy was an issue at just about every place he had been employed at.

True, and this seemed like it was angrily, poorly written. That's how I used to write some posts here if I'm truly passionate about something and don't have time to edit it down to a little more mannered.

Most people who write theirs also might come from a scholarly background, and they are trying to pass themselves off as level-headed and doing the right thing. This guy clearly knew where he was at, and really was only trying to stir the pot more (as he mentions over and over, the Charleston shooting was the tipping point).

I would bet something would have to be wrong with somebody for them to kill another person in cold blood. Just a guess. Its not really something that needs to speculated for hours on end, however.

As for the video - it will slowly but surely leak into the mainstream consciousness. Villainy and suffering sells. Hell, the New York Daily put three frames from the video of Alison being shot as this morning's cover page.

I really wish it was the other way around. If the public would respond and be more curious about the lives of Alison and Adam and the good they did rather than focus on some nutjob's life story, why he broke bad, and how it could have been prevented then I think that would go a long way in preventing this **** from continuously happening.
