    Re: Off Topic 2015

You guys were talking about bands, and now after grabbing my guitar after almost a year without touching it, i felt like listening to some bands i listened to years ago (some of these were mentioned here, like Hawthorne Heights), and then...

Loved this band. Also, you can see Andy Milonakis in this video hahaha

I eat waffles plain often. At most I'll put maple syrup on it. It's like a steak. If you need to put sauce on it, you did something wrong.

We should be friends, I dig all those bands.

With the Internet, social media, streaming and websites like bandcamp, there's SO much good music being made. You've got to work a bit to find it, but there's no shortage.

There's nothing quite like discovering a great band.

Yeah, i agree. It's like a sport for me. All these years I've been listening to tons of bands, discovering new ones, even bands that are beginning or bands from really different places.

As someone who learned to listen to almost every genre, it's like an adventure for me. I've found some hardcore and nu metal bands from Japan and France, some incredibly talented guitar players from everywhere, like Andy McKee, Jon Gomm and José Gonzalez (you know him if you played Red Dead Redemption), some djent bands with high technical level...

          Music it's my thing.

This is too easy so I'll let someone else do it...

I guess she didn't really have self-control if she leapt from a car that was in motion or in drive/reverse, but the worst thing about this is she left her child in the car. Kid had some balls though, he hopped in to the driver seat and tried to hit the brakes but hit the accelerator.

If I was that kid, I honestly don't know how I could look at my mom the same. Save your own skin, leave my well-being up to chance? Nice.

I hate spiders. But I've had them crawl on me or be in the car somewhere while I was driving. Multiple times, actually. You know what I did? Not act like a coward, keep driving as I need to, and kill the SOB. I can withhold the fear of being bit and having something crawl on me long enough to make sure I'm in a safe enough situation to take care of business.

This lady is lucky that her kid survived.

Actually relates to something I was thinking about this morning. Saw a compilation video of people being heroes, and got me thinking who would step up and who would get caught up in bystander mode. I've done well in adverse situations in the past so I think I've got that "when the **** hits the fan, step up" gene in me. Nothing super life threatening thus far, and hopefully never, but I'd rather die trying then live and know someone else died because I didn't act.

This got heavy... was just on my mind.

I just put syrup on mine though as I'm not a big fan of butter. My uncle once made chocolate chip pancakes while we were on a family beach trip and those were pretty good. I rarely eat a hot breakfast though.

Alright before I tell my little embarrassing short stories I'll remind everyone I have severe anxiety and social disorders.

So, two years ago I was at a red light, and got smashed into by an over medicated lady who never touched the breaks. I had been looking in the side view mirror so I was able to brace myself for impact and ended up with nothing more than a sore neck. But anyway, the embarrassing part of the story is how proud I was of myself for putting the flashers on, turning off the engine, getting out and talking to the other driver, directing a couple cars to go around, talking to the cops, talking to any emergency personnel and not having panic attacks. This is my version of "stepping up", which is sad I know lol, and I still don't have an explanation for how I was able to suddenly avoid the panic attack, or how I didn't lose my voice in a situation that called for me to speak in "public" especially to strangers. I didn't even have a stuttering issue which happens a lot if I really do keep my voice.

Example 2: Last year I had a pair of headphones that broke, I had the warranty, but I never return things because of the social encounter of having to talk to customer service. But these headphones were expensive and I needed to somehow pump myself up just to get a replacement. As a reward, I was gonna grab some Taco Bell on the way home, which I also never do because talking into the drive thru speaker is like talking into a phone for me, a major phobia I can't explain. I'm giving too many details. So when I went to Best Buy and stammered through my rehearsed lines (yeah, I literally practiced what I would say), got my replacement headphones, got my Taco Bell, after I pulled out of the TB parking lot I literally fist pumped and shouted in my car "Like a boss!". You can't make this stuff up lol, again I was so proud to step up.

Final example, as if you need more, few months ago my food card was taken away and I needed specific info from my landlord to deliver to my DHS caseworker. Ugh what a nightmare, the caseworker always ignores calls from my rep, never calls back, and the landlord is in the same boat. I've emailed and mailed things to the caseworker and she constantly claims she didn't get it. So when I finally got the info I needed from the landlord after SEVERAL months without my foodcard, I went to Office Max to ask someone to help me send a fax, so I could email the caseworker, mail her, and also fax her the necessary info. Again I had to psych myself up, again had to rehearse lines, again I had to reward myself with Taco Bell, and again I fist pumped and yelled on the way home.

These are my "facing danger" fight or flight examples lol, I can joke about it because I know absurd it sounds from an outside perspective, but this stuff is as difficult as it gets for me

Moral of the stories, I am not the person you want to count on to Step Up in an actual major situation

So you don't speak on the phone much, l3ulvl?

I think I used to have some speech issues when I was younger. Not stuttering, but having trouble forcing out some words. It wasn't bad, and I still do it time to time when forcing out words (for instance when doing voice impressions), but any other time I'm a normal guy. Heck, I teach for a living so I better be okay at it!

I'm not good at talking to strangers longer than 2 minutes...I'm not good with "filler" conversation so after my erratic questions and stupid comments, I'm done. The folks at work called me a "quick-talker" because I would never stay beyond a couple of minutes as I got what I needed and went back to my desk.

Very very rarely, I think I've spoken on the phone one time in the last couple years, and that was only because AT&T online customer service needed to speak directly with me and not just online. I wanted to give them a fake number and just get someone else to help later, but then I remembered it's AT&T, they already have my number
