    Prank Phone Call Thread

First thing's first, just assume that most of the calls in here will be:

    ***NSFW***

    Now then, some ground rules:

1- Absolutely, positively no soundboard prank calls allowed. 90% of them suck, but even the 10% that are good can only go so far. How many different ways can you prank call a pizza shop using a limited number of clips of Arnold Schwarzenegger or Joe Pesci's voice before it gets played out? Not many.

2- No Jerky Boys. Yeah, a lot of their stuff is actually funny but we've all heard every single call about a million times.

3- Try to limit the "mainstream" stuff as much as possible. Just like the Jerky Boys, some of the mainstream guys (Stern show stuff, Roy D. Mercer, Ownage Pranks, etc.) are really good, but if it has 10 million views, we've been there and done that.

    Re: Prank Phone Call Thread

I'll start out with what is, in my opinion, the single greatest prank call ever made:

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/8teY54fMsxY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I first got a copy of this guy's pranks in the early 90s when I was in middle school. It was a Maxell dubbed tape in terrible quality but it was all we had back then. This was viral before viral was a thing.

    Please try to pay attention!

This is one of the most original prank ideas ever. What they do is have their listeners put notes on random cars saying that they dinged their car and to call them back to make arrangements to pay up for the damage. The best part is, they don't actually damage the car at all, they just **** with the people calling back. Pure genius!

My buddies and I used to record our prank calls all the time when we were younger. I have a few of them on cassette tapes. Not sure how I would transfer them. My best one was probably when I called a random guy named Macintosh. I did the best child voice I could, and told him I was doing a project on panda bears in the wild, and I couldn't get my desktop windows folder to work on my Macintosh computer. Looking back on it now, it was stupid. Funny to us at the time though. I actually had the guy on the phone for a while. He told me I had the wrong Macintosh and to call the Macintosh in another development. Haha.

Just a general heads up, adding a NSFW warning tag does not make it okay to post anything vulgar.
Don't you EVER read my blog? It's gotten a lot better.

That's pretty great. One of the podcasts I listen to has one where they put two pizza places on the line together like that. One guy was from the USA and the other was from England and had the thickest cockney accent and had the shortest temper ever. I'll have to dig that one up eventually. They tormented that British pizza guy for a long time.

The best part about the Mark Knopfler calls is how they ended up spreading. To this day, nobody knows who "Mark" actually was. The only things we do know is that the calls were made in the summer of 1986 in or around the Dover, Delaware area. He references the Goodwill Games being on TV in one call and these tapes began to be passed out before 1990 so that only leaves 1986, the first edition of the games. We also know it is the Dover, Delaware area since he references a lot of cities and places in and around that area. Also, the accents are spot on with the "Slower Lower" portion of the state and a cursory search of internet directories can easily locate some of Mark's "victims" still living in that area.

I first heard the calls on a college radio station around 1990-91 or so and then received a dubbed copy of the calls on a crappy old cassette tape in middle school. This was a good ten years before file sharing sites were even a thing and practically nobody had the internet. Yet, you look on web pages about pranks and people all over the country somehow had a copy of his tape back in the 90s. It's pretty amazing when you think about it. Nothing like that could ever possibly happen again just because of the internet. Most kids these days look at me funny when I say the word "cassette" anyway. I just wish "Mark" would come forward after all these years like the Tube Bar guys eventually did.

More info on "Mark" and his calls can be found here:

I'll never forget, I was in the army, 3 of us were driving from Norfolk to ft drum, ny I never heard the jerky boys before, they played this one where dude calls about civil war memorabilia, then like says hold on and falls on a dog or somethung and is injured, and the lady is in the phone still. I laughed for more or less the entire ride, I laughed so hard I had like exhaustion from laughing. That was one of the top 5 funniest things ever in my life.

I implore everyone to check out the infamous "Tube Bar" pranks if they can find them. They were the pranks that inspired everyone (even the character of Mo from The Simpsons was loosely based on the 'victim' of those calls) today. You won't find them on YouTube, but if you dig around its not too hard to uncover them. Best calls ever made and it's not close, but I didn't bother posting them since anybody over the age of 30-35 has more than likely heard them.

As soon as I saw this thread I just went and watched the Reds DVD on YouTube. I love the Simpsons but they blatantly ripped this off, Moe Sizlak is Red. I won't post any of them but I love Sal and Richard Tradio prank calls, I could listen to those all day.
