Funny that I was specifically referring to films when I made this thread, but now that I think about it this probably applies to stand-up comedy more than films. I think the idea that I was thinking about with films was the typecasting involved in it as well and that it's being acted out, not just that insults are being thrown out.

I have zero use for a ton of profanity. It's not funny at all to me.

          I'm with you.

Nothing against curse words at all and use them regularly but I hate listening to a tirade of them over and over again.

Frankly, I think we need more offensive stuff. Society has grown sackless and humorless. I can't stand what's become of us especially in this regard. I don't like people saying something can't be said or joked about because it's offensive. People have a right to not be offended.

I don't really care for racially-based humor anyway because I find it too easy and clichéd but your Pryors, your Murphys? Two of the funniest men to have ever walked the planet.

The only thing I get offended over when it comes to comedy is when something or someone is horrendously unfunny.

Some jokes are cringe inducing at times, but I really haven't had that type of moment with friends or family. I do enjoy comedians like George Carlin and Frankie Boyle, so I'm probably use to it .

You have to ask yourself what being offended really means. To me, what it means is letting someone else have control over your feelings. You choose your own emotional responses, and you own them. So, to me, the only thing that could offend me would be if someone close (friend or family) said something negative about me personally. No comedian, actor, or stranger will ever offend me because I have the right to not be offended, as we ALL do. Most of us just choose not to practice it, because it's not always easy. Many people are sensitive and fragile. Nowadays more than ever, it seems.

Choosing to not be offended is choosing to not be a victim. I wish more people realized this.

                    I have some morals.
Not sure if you meant it the way I took it?

I don't let anything get to me. People have to realize, they specifically aren't targeting you. If I had a family member die from AIDS and then heard a hilarious AIDS joke, I am not going to be all up in arms because my cousin died from AIDS. The joke wasn't aimed at me and making fun of my cousin who died. If that was the case someone could find something to be offended about all the time.

Yeah, I don't get this either...out of the literally hundreds of thousands of words in the English language, let's decide to continually use 10.

Kevin Hart is a funny guy but I cannot watch it for long without it turning to filthy conversation that I, nor my family, should be watching. I don't find it offensive, rather annoying and disgusting.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Funny, I was just contemplating purchasing tickets to a Jeff Ross comedy show. Ross pushes the proverbial boundaries as far as thy can go.

The "low blow" jokes don't really bother me. If it's something that is out of bounds, I tend to just chuckle and kind of SMH saying that's low. But comedy is comedy. You know what you're signing up for when you watch it.

You want silence, go watch mimes perform.

It really depends on the comedian as to whether or not they pull it off. Some use these topics as a crutch, where it ends up being stupid and offensive. Others use them well and that ends up ok.

Not really, you know what you're getting into when you go see certain movies.

At the end of the day, it's still just a movie.
