Yeah I'm surprised too. I Just got my car stolen last year. Luckily the police recovered it. When they found it they said it smelled like weed and I had to pay a fortune to repair the carCFB-Florida Gators and UCF Knights

Re: Crime thread
i honestly dont know last i heard the fbi was still active on that case. its sad because the case was really bizarre with people thinking it was domestic voilence or if it was a random attacker. our newpaper in jackson, ms the clarion ledger had an update but was really only what i stated before.

Crime thread
Wilmington brings Delaware in to this. Insanely high murder per capita (only 71K population). It's a little city that is trying to be like a big one as far as body count goes. The city just got a homicide unit I believe.
So much heroin around these parts. And it's right smack in between Chester, Philadelphia, Camden, and Baltimore. And NYC a bit farther north. It's like the drug running expressway.
I imagine there's probably a decent amount of meth use in the rural, southern parts of the state too.Last edited by slickdtc; 07-23-2015, 03:30 PM.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: Crime thread
I've walked past a couple of arrests in progress living in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood. Once I walked out of my apartment building as my mom was picking me up to take me grocery shopping (I can't drive) and a police officer was talking to a guy right by the steps. The officer actually asked me if I needed anything to which I said no then my mom pulled up and I got in her car and left. I found and checked a police blotter the next day and discovered it was an arrest for drug possession. Another time I was walking just behind a small group of people and passed a couple officers talking to a guy and the guy seemingly tried to follow the group of people walking in order to get away and stumbled while an officer asked him "where are you going?". There was some packed down snow on that area of sidewalk so I wasn't sure if he was drunk or just slipped. I checked the campus police blotter the next day and found out it was an arrest for public drunkenness and resisting arrest
Overall, Oakland seems to be a pretty same place during daylight hours at least and when compared to some other city neighborhood. I've heard of a number of robberies and assaults in and around Pitt campus, though almost all of those took place well after dark (10 PM or later) which is why I don't venture out on foot after dark. There is actually a Subway 2 blocks down the street from me that has been robbed at least 3 times (I've never eaten at that one, but instead go to the one in the middle of Pitt's campus) and there was once a stabbing in the senior/assisted living high rise across the street from my building once.
The guy who shot 6 people (killing 1) before being shot and killed by security at Pitt's Western Psych Institute and Clinic a few years back lived in an apartment building very close to mine and there was a murder/suicide in another nearby apartment building earlier this year.Last edited by BurghFan; 07-23-2015, 04:21 PM.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Re: Crime thread
Nobody lives in Winston-Salem or if they do, they're >50. My boss moved down from Chicago to take his current job and he states it's horrible here and his wife hates it too; nothing fun to do, nothing to see...
Glad we're not Gotham; let's keep it this way, WS.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment
