I'm a pastor in the United Methodist Church and consider myself an introvert. Sunday's are demanding of me and I need to recharge my batteries with "down time." Video games is one way I do that. Anyway, I would recommend a book published a couple of years ago called "Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can't Stop Talking." Not only have top executives and past presidents been introverts, but also other famous people such as Gandhi were introverts. This book helps those who are introverts articulate to extroverts, in a simplistic manner, the world of introverts and those who aren't understand us.

I tell my sunday school class that I enjoy church...then go home and kill people (Battlefield 4).

Anyways...@ the OP, I wouldn't say the world isn't introvert friendly but rather that you have to find a job that suits you. If you're not an outgoing person, marketing isn't the job for you. My first "real" job was in sales and I honestly dreaded EVERY DAY of it because I hated when somebody told me - I cannot take rejection. So, I found a career path where I sit behind a desk and work with data all day. Maybe you find a job that deals with market research or marketing from the back-end.

An introvert can (and they have been) very successful at both sales jobs and marketing jobs.

Being an introvert doesn't mean you can't function the same as an extrovert.

Yup, agree with Kehlis. I'm definitely introverted, but I have no problem dealing with customers or even just people in general, cashiers at stores, people I am meeting for the first time, etc. I actually am pretty damn good at it. I can go in front of a crowd at a open mic or at my school (last year was my senior year in HS, and I won our men's 'pageant' where we just had to do something cool or funny, and I did a standup comedy bit and won by a lot) and be fine.

Not trying to brag, but that's just how the world is. It's okay to be shy or outgoing, and it's okay to be introverted or extroverted but they're not the same thing.

This! I have to share with so many people that just because I'm introverted doesn't mean I'm shy.

Being an introvert doesn't mean you can't function the same as an extrovert.

Yeah, I consider myself an introvert, and happen to be in sales and successful with it. I also do things like play on softball teams with my friends, and take my kids to the park. My favorite thing to do though is to be alone, like if I had my choice I'd just be by myself doing my own thing rather than be out at a club or doing something social.
