    Are cheesers wrong?

Forgive me if this has been done before or if this isn't the right place to put this but I had a very interesting discussion with a friend.

For a little background, he doesn't use overt cheese tactics or glitches but he does do things that we wouldn't consider 'sim'. For instance, he takes advantage of the transition D in 2K16 and he puts DB's and LB's on the line in Madden and just drops them in coverage (both of which can be somewhat countered but that's besides the point).

But he did bring up an interesting point. In Madden for example, he says that the game undervalues interior lineman so he is just playing who is giving the most value and using strategy that gives him the most value. He also made the point that if most coaches were playing these games they would do the as me (which is where he lost me but that's also besides the point ).

That being said, overall I can't say he is necessarily wrong based on his points.

It depends on your definition of right and wrong.

Cheesers play the game, rather than playing the sport. That's the best way I can describe my opinion on it/sim play.

Just to expand on Jr.'s comment, I always saw it as for the games that feature the simulation of the real athletes and try to build in conditions emulating the actual game with sliders and settings, then the end user/gamer can establish a game that mirrors the actual game as closely as possible. Though of course with it being a computer program at its' core (and a complex one at that), there are going to be glitches. However, the reason for the purchase of this type of game I would think for most people is to play like they were in the actual sport itself. There are "arcade" versions of most, if not all, sports games where people can do the wacky things.

Therefore, those who exploit the bugs and glitches in the former are cheating the experience, which sometimes involves another human player.

It also depends if you are cheeseing online or not.

I don't know if I can really say they are wrong. The game allows it so they are just playing differently than us. Is it annoying? Yes but I just can't say it's wrong.

It's not wrong at all. People play the game to win.

The only people who are wrong are those who expect some type of decency from their opponent in online games.

I often play games with 'house rules,' either to respect the authenticity of the sport that is being replicated or what have you. I don't play too many games online though, so I can't say at what costs I would do what against others.

It's annoying and frustrating and it ruins the experience for other people. And I think it can hurt sales. But it's not wrong in the moral sense.

Maybe not much to really do any damage. But I know people who don't play some games because of the online cheese fests some can turn into.
