Re: Off Topic 2016: Electric Boogaloo 27

You have to understand that most people with irrational fears/anxiety are aware of the irrational fears/anxiety but still experience them no matter what, it's not as simple as being "mentally tough", which is a huge pet peeve of mine btw, you're basically saying anxiety is a weakness
I was one of those people who felt like you could overcome it, but then I saw my wife not be able to sleep, eat, or stay still. She was worrying herself to a heart attack in her mid-20's. Her anxiety was crippling.

I had to realize that what worked for me didn't work for her. My rules didn't apply to her. Anxiety is a vicious cycle and its a helpless feeling seeing someone else go through it and knowing no matter what you say or do, it can't really change how they're feeling.

No one wants to be dependent on medication, but there comes a breaking point where it's either you're paralyzed with anxiety or you take your medications and accept that it's okay to need help and take them. My wife has tried a bunch of things but she recently found what works for her. It really is giving her her life back.

It's hard to put yourself in someone else's mindset like that. I can't blame people for not understanding how serious anxiety can be. It's one of those, you don't know until you've been through it deals. My eyes were opened and sometimes I still struggle to accept it even though I've stayed up all night with my wife on multiple occasions who was thinking herself to death to the point where it was causing serious physical symptoms. There certainly are natural remedies to taking control of your mind and body back but they don't always work and everybody is different. You have to work to find what works for you and that may take time but eventually you'll get there.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
 NFL - Buffalo Bills
 MLB - Cincinnati Reds

SpoilerI couldn't help it; I found it ironic from our conversation earlier. Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain. Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment
