My Mother has Stage 4 Cancer

We found out today that my Mom has stage 4 cancer. She found a lump in her breast and went through a biopsy and ultrasounds and it was determined that she has stage 4 cancer and it has spread.

She has decided and always had after watching a friend go through it that she will not do any treatment. She just wants to take whatever time she has left and live it as normal as she can.

I'm at a loss right now. I feel as though there is something that I should do, but I have no idea what that something would be.

The one thing I can do is ask for prayers. So please, my OS family, if you believe in the power of prayer, my family needs everyone that we can get.

2016 continues to be horrible. After going through the loss of my father and grandfather this year, my biggest urge to you is to spend all the time with her you can. It hurts now, it will hurt, but spending that time with your mother, you'll always remember those conversations and times. Be there for her as much as you can.

I hope you and your mother stay strong. Prayers to you and your family.

I'm so sorry CB to hear this news.

If your mom wants to fight it, she should look into a plant based diet and juice everyday. I personally know someone who had the same cancer who went into remission after she went vegan. She even went raw vegan for a couple months and did yoga to be active.

Not saying its a cure but to personally see and go through it with someone was remarkable. If you wants to consider it, have her watch a documentary called "Forks over Knives."

Having just lost our 15 yr old son 3 months ago, I have one bit of advice: spend as much time with her as you can, talk about things - everything. You have time to prepare for this. All I received was a phone call following a car accident that took his life immediately. The last words we told each other before he walked out the door was that we loved each other. You have time for so much more - embrace it. We hate death - but it's something that all of us must face. So take time to have those conversations - you'll need them down the road. My prayers are with you...and her. So sorry for you...
