Shooter on UCLA campus

Campus-wide lockdown has been initiated. LAPD reports two victims. No suspects have been caught. This is still an active situation.

My sister attends UCLA and texted that she is in her on-campus apartment. I'm freaking out. I'm 5 1/2 hours out and obviously can't do anything physically (like going there would do me any good either way).

Anything I should recommend to her?

Doors locked, blinds/curtains closed, lights off. Stay out of window trajectory until over.

To add, do not answer the door, not even to police until and 'all clear' is done.

Where is the weapon? Wouldn't they have found that nearby one of the victims?

EDIT: My sister texted and said that a shooter is possibly on the apartment side of campus now. I don't know where she got her information from. That does not coincide with anything on the news.

SECOND EDIT: Chief of Police is stating that the situation is entirely contained, and a murder-suicide with no other thought of another shooter on campus. People will remain sheltered and in place until they can sweep through everywhere.

Crazy because i remember when the Westwood theater used to have big fights but thats when i was a kid and they shut that place down

Even working in the area you don't see anything crazy happening over there.

Looks like one of those "shootings at a school" rather than a "school shooting." Obviously neither should happen, but at least it wasn't a mass, indiscriminate spraying as we've come to know them. As news trickled out and stayed consistent about "only" 2 people dying, I figured it was more of the murder-suicide, targeted variety.

Best friend's brother was on campus at the time, locked down in a classroom. The info he was hearing was 4 shooters, so you can see how misinformation spreads so damn quickly.

Luckily nobody else was harmed. Can't believe anyone could possibly care about anything involving school enough to shoot a professor over what is at the moment presumed to be a grade dispute, but what a ****ing loser.

I have no familiarity with the "South Campus" so I have no idea where this hall is to be honest. North Campus is where the vast majority of my time was spent.

Appears the shooter at UCLA also shot a woman in Minnesota. He had a kill list of 3 people:

* The woman he murdered in Minnesota
* The Professor he killed at UCLA
* another professor at UCLA who was not on campus at time of the shooting

The more the story unfolds the more strange it becomes.

It all boils down to the fact that the shooter alleged that the professor he killed stole computer code from him.

So he shot this woman (who knows how she ties in) then drove from St. Paul to LA to confront the professors.
