Yeah. Just hard for me to understand someone being okay with something bad happening if they had a chance to prevent it. Sure, it could be made worse, I suppose, but it could also be made a lot better.

I also don't believe that things happen for a reason, or a greater meaning behind events. That probably plays a big part into a person's reasoning behind their decision in a question like this.
My favorite teams are better than your favorite teams

Yes I agree. There's a lot more stuff that could be discussed but it would start toeing the line of the TOS.
      MLB: Texas Rangers
      Soccer: FC Dallas, Fleetwood Town
      NCAA: SMU, UTA
      NFL: Dallas Cowboys
      NHL: Dallas Stars
      NBA: Dallas Mavericks

If I went back to January 1, 2000, there wouldn't be a whole lot I could or would change. For starters, I'd be 14 months old.

Then I'd tip people off on 9/11 and all the other **** that's happened since then.

Then I'd work on inventing **** like iPhones, Facebook, etc.
You could give me all the required tools and materials and 500 years and I wouldnt be able to create an iphone.

good thread, I often times think of what i would do if i could go back. I always wonder if I went back and did things different, and like had my kids at a different time, would i have different kids? idk, then its like well....if I go back but could still have the same kids i have now...then yeah...lets go back and get rich somehow. In the end, im content with my life as is..could be far worse, and I have an opportunity tomorrow that is "back in time from 2050" where I can do something impactful towards my future.

I wanted to call out this brief exchange to point something out that I've learned.

I am from the belief that what makes us who/what we are is because of what we've been thru. More to the point, I always have the mindset that if I'm not thankful for what I have NOW I won't be thankful for what I have in the future or at the very least, I'll take it for granted. I feel like a lot of what I'm thankful for now is due to what I've been thru in the past and realizing what I do have is so important.

There are things I'd change in the past that would make my life easier now but there are also difficult things I've been thru that were extremely painful, tearful and downright depressing...but I would still bear thru it because it's made me the man I am today.

              1) I would have put just about every penny in savings and investment funds into Apple.
              2) I would have skipped going out a second time with my second exwife.
              3) Would have gotten out of the Navy and started my civilian career 8 years earlier

Try to intervene before 9/11 happened (not sure how though).

Blzer, I really wish you'd have picked New Year's Eve, Dec. 31st, 1999 as the date.
I was at a bad point in my life at that time & didn;t get to party like it was 1999.
I really need to go back & rectify that before I can fully move into the 21st century with the rest of you guys.

Once again I'll cite the Multi-verse theory. So if every possible outcome happens in infinite universes then maybe you already did go back in time and change something important.

Maybe you broke up with that one girl who ended up destroying your life today.

Or maybe you decided to stop at the gas station to grab a drink instead of passing it and getting t-boned by the guy who ran the red light just up the road.

This reminds me of the episode of Quantum Leap where Sam realises his mission is to not save JFK from being shot by Lee Harvey but to save Jackie O from suffering the same fate lol
