We were discussing at work today whether or not folks would be for pushing certain holidays to Friday/Mondays to add convenience to maybe the majority of the population.
4th of July is tricky, IMO, because unlike any other holiday (sans Cinco de Mayo), the date carries so much importance that most use it to identify the holiday as opposed to Independence Day. It's a 4th of July parade or a 4th of July celebration....rarely an Independence Day celebration.
The other ones that stand out to me are Halloween (another one that sucks to have mid-week to) and Christmas (not as big of a deal for me personally because I always take the week off between Christmas and New Years).
Personally, I'd be all for standardizing these to a Friday (4th of July - 1st Friday in July), Halloween (Last Friday of October) and Christmas (4th Friday of December).
On top of this, I'd move the Superbowl to Saturday.
Thoughts?
