    ASMR

Might get chastised for this one. It's weird.

If you Google it, you'll automatically be brought to sites that reveal the abbreviation that is short for autonomous sensory meridian response. It is that tingling sensation you get that you may feel around your head and works down your spine. I'm sure we've all gotten it for different reasons, but normally you don't give it to yourself, somebody else triggers it for you. To put to an immediate close, this is by no means a sexual thing.

If you YouTube it, you will be opened to an entire community of people (more often than not it is females) that record channels of themselves whispering on camera, or role-playing where you are at the receiving end of a one-way conversation. Basically, the cliff notes version is it's like what Bob Ross did on his painting show, but the community does every type of scenario imaginable. It's both weird and creepy, but if you're sleepy enough or fall into the mood it serves best when you're in a dark place with your eyes closed and headphones on.

I ran into it when once trying to find something hypnotic and soothing to fall asleep to, but I was thinking more of Aqueous Transmission by Incubus, not somebody who would pretend like they are my doctor performing a medical exam on me. But this is why I bring it up: I know some people who have trouble sleeping might want to give this relaxation technique a chance. I've only done it a couple of times before, but as long as you don't admit it to your peers it's not exact the worst way to get a good night's sleep either.

There are popular channels out there that now get endorsed to put up weekly videos, and they really come up with creative things to do to make them all refreshing. A couple of them to note are:

    ASMRrequests
    Heather Feather ASMR
    GentleWhispering
    Springbok ASMR
    Ephemeral Rift
    Fairy Char ASMR

Here is a video example (again, because of the binaural ambiance it works best with headphones on):

ASMR videos - which claim to induce an intense physical sensation in the viewer - have softly become an internet phenomenon.

Curious if anybody has heard about this or tried it before, or if anyone is willing to try it and report their experiences.

I know threads like this are sometimes ones I regret making because the gentlemen here might find themselves too "manly" for this kind of thing, but as the old saying goes: you never know until you try.

At long last, I'm just glad they came up with a term to describe this feeling, because I never knew how to describe it until I came across this online community.

    Re: ASMR

I've heard of it. And from what I read it's supposed to feel mildly orgasmic. I've tried but no dice. I get these random full body shivers and it sounds like what those people feel but I'm not sure. But there's tons of videos of just random sounds being played over and over again or whispering. Maybe you just have to find your trigger.

      Re: ASMR

Never heard of it. So the point is pleasure? Or relaxation? Or sleep enducing? Are you supposed to just listen to these things eyes closed or is watching the video part of the experience?

I watched and listened with headphones for about 20 seconds of that sample vid and it felt hella creepy. Not relaxing at all. People enjoy being at the Dr. office being examined?
